Greater than one weekIll start by saying that yes, while this does have a few kinks, I would still rate it 4.5 stars due to one of the kinks but overall I consider it to be an excellent purchase! Since this is exactly what I needed for my area rug and dog, Ive rated it 5 stars. First off, I have a German Shepherd/Husky mix who thinks its hilarious to tinkle on my ivory colored 8 x 10 area rug on certain occasions and has gotten sick on the rug in the past. Before buying this very decently priced Hoover, I used to have to buy a whole new area rug whenever this happened because there was no way to spot clean the mess from such a large dog not to mention the smell! After reading the reviews, I decided to give this bad boy a shot along with Sunny & Honey carpet miracle solution based on another reviewers recommendation (cheaper than buying a whole new area rug AGAIN!) I started off by vacuuming the entire area rug several times with a regular vaccum. Then I mixed the solution into the Hoover solution tank (although I really wasnt sure how much to use since its not a hoover product so I started off with about 1/2 a cup and the rest was filled up with water. The Hoover was able to get out the pee stain instantly and with not that much more effort it completely got rid of her shit diarrhea stain as well! The rug is as good as new and smells very clean now! Now for the quirks. Even though I vaccumed twice with a regular vaccum, this thing still picks up a ton of hair. While I love that its able to provide such a deep clean and lift up the crap the standard vaccum did not, the design of the hoover does make it a bit difficult to clean the rotating belt part (see picture). I have to stick my fingers in there after each use and try to manually pull out the excess hair. While this part is annoying, I still give it a 4.5/5 stars because it still gets the job done and does the job well! I also noticed in another review that someone was complaining about leaking. The only thing I noticed is that the dirty water tank does have a spout and if the cap is not properly pushed in, I could see why it might cause a leak, although this has never been a problem for me as I always double check that its plugged in all the way. Although this does not heat the water, I do feel like this machine does dry carpet much faster than I expected which could be part of the whole heat force technology in the description. Lastly, my boyfriend the skeptic thought I was an idiot for buying this thing. He swore up and down there was no way it could clean up the diarrhea stain from when the dog got sick so he sat and watched me put it to the test with a giant grin on his face ready to say I told you so. The joke ended up being on him because he is now absolutely amazed at what this thing could do for a mere $99! He also made a few comments about how good the carpet smelled after it was clean! All in all, this is the perfect machine for someone in need of cleaning an area rug without wanting to spend a fortune. Works wonders on pet stains so this was exactly what I was looking for. The last pictures were taken after I cleaned, as you can see how gross the dirty water tank got as well as how much hair was in the belt that I had to manually pull out to clean. Despit its quirks, both my bf and I still give it at least 4.5-5 stars!!

> 3 dayIts a really good machine for the money. The motor was more powerful then I expected after I read other reviews. The water reservoirs are small, but I expect that for the price. I have had it now 6 months and it has cleaned some really nasty carpets. I am very impressed. Only thing I wish it had was able to clear furniture as well. I received more than expected so I cant complain.

Greater than one weekI bought this Hoover PowerDash Pet machine and was impressed. Firstly, I thought that my delivery would have taken a week, I got it within two days. Thanks Amazon. It is simple to assemble. It comes with a 6 ounce bottle of Hoover deep clean neutralizer. The key to using this is SLOW movement. It cleaned and sucked up the dirt. My rug was not dripping wet. I just finished cleaning about 15 minutes ago and it is nearly dry. The proof of all the dirt was in the dirty water container. I have a Bissell Little Green Clean Machine. It does well for spot treating, but at one point I was using it to clean the whole rug. Let’s just say my back wasn’t to happy about that. The first picture shows how dirty the carpet is. I have a dog and a cat. The second picture shows how clean it became. After I was finished cleaning, I took off the removable nozzle and rinsed it clean. I flipped up the machine, unscrewed the bottom and cleaned the brush head and surrounding area. There was soo much fur, but it was a breeze to clean. For the price, I paid $112 in total. I heard a lot of things about Hoover and wanted to try it out. I’m very happy with my purchase.

> 3 dayFor the money this is a no brainer. The machine does extremely well with good suction power. It is easy to clean and to use. The stair tool works excellent. I was surprised how good that it was for the price. I have used commercial equipment in the past many times, and can say that the results are about the same as this. It is possible that this machine does slightly better since it has the rollers to do deep cleaning. With a commercial cleaner you need to scrub the carpets with a carpet rake to get it this good. The amount of dirt that came out of the carpet is incredible. I have used other residential carpet cleaners too and this one is way better than the others I have tried. I dont think that it is too loud but it is what I would expect from anything this powerful. The cord could be longer but adding an extension cord or moving to another plug is not that hard. The dirty tank comes on and off with no trouble. It is pretty light when its empty, but seems to be made good. Was really easy to set up and understand how to use it. Came with a sample bottle of shampoo and I was happy about that. It was enough to do a couple of rooms. Also, to clean the brushes it is super easy and you dont have to flip it over to do it so that is a major bonus. Everything comes apart for maintenance and there isnt much they didnt think of when making this. I give 5 stars. So glad I got it. Cannot speak for the life of the thing, but I dont see any issues after cleaning all my carpet. (there is a lot of it) Highly recommend and love this cleaner.

> 3 dayI have 2 young children and anyone with kids know how impossible it is to keep anything clean! I have already replaced one area rug, and My living room rug was about to be thrown out this morning after my 1yr old dumped a new cup of coffee all over it. Instead of buying a new $250 rug AGAIN , I decided to look into carpet cleaners because this was surely going to happen again and again in the future. When I saw this one for $100 I was skeptical but the reviews looked promising and it would be delivered same day. within a few hours of ordering it was delivered! It was so simple to put together- no tools needed! I read the instructions as other reviewers suggested and I used the carpet cleaning solution provided with the device- added bonus points! Now I do not have actual animals in my home, just children that act like animals, but I still vacuumed the area rug as suggested in the directions and then went back over it with the carpet cleaner. WOW! When I tell you how happy this $100 cleaner has made me! I can cry! Weeks worth of coffee stains, chocolate pudding and just all signs of toddlerness was erased! I will say that I replaced the water in the tank 2x and emptied out the dirty water tank 2x for an 8x10 low pile rug. Overall I probably spent a good 20-30min really deeply getting every little ickiness out- but the rug looks new again! The rug was left a little damp and I checked the tile underneath and water did not appear to have bled through. While this cleaner is great for a small area rug, maybe even my carpeted stairs, idk how it would perform for a whole house of carpet or luxurious fluffy carpet/rugs. Overall, this is my new favorite thing and I would definitely recommend!

> 3 dayWorks great. Really gets the rugs clean. If you have a large area this may be a bit small. I foster dogs and they have hair everywhere. This definitely gets what the vacuum misses.

> 3 dayI bought this thing on the basis of all the good reviews it got. I had a larger Bissell machine for many years and I was largely satisfied with it. But I wanted something a little more compact and lighter. Pros: This thing really is more like a slightly heavier, regular vacuum cleaner in use, which means it is an awful lot easier to push around. It seems to clean about as well as my big beast of a Bissell did, maybe even a bit better, judging by how much filthy water it ultimately pulled up from my carpet. The routine cleaning of the machine, rinsing out the parts etc. after you are done using it seems fairly easy, a bit easier than my old Bissell because you can take the suction head off easily and run it under the sink and it was reasonably easy to pull the inevitable bits of dog hair and carpet fuzz off the rollers. It was noisy, but not much noisier than my old machine. Cons: Water is heavy, and a big reason why this thing is lighter and easier to use is that the water tanks are much smaller. The water dispenser bottle is like two Nalgene bottles put together, which means you get less than 10 minutes of run time with the water spraying. So you have to stop, refill the clean water and empty the dirty water tank much more frequently than you will with a larger machine. If you are cleaning a very big room nowhere near a sink or tub, that will get old soon. The brush head is narrower as well, meaning more passes are required to clean the same area. So buying something like for most people is going to be a kind of a pick-your-poison thing. Either you can get a big heavy machine that is more work to push around or something lighter that requires more trips to the sink and so will take you a fair bit more time to handle a large area. If you have a huge house full of wall-to-wall carpet with kids and dogs etc. this is probably not the machine for you. If you have a few area rugs that you want to give a deep clean once or twice a year, this will be ideal. If you are somewhere between these two extremes, you just need to decide what is more important to you. It seems fairly well built for the price, which is not the same thing as actually heavy-duty. It strikes me as something that should last a while if it gets only occasional use and you are reasonably gentle with it. But if you are pulling this out every week, that may be asking a lot of something this inexpensive. So far, I have only discovered two obvious design flaws: (1) There is actually a small lip around the drain plug you use to drain the water from the dirty water tank, which makes it needlessly difficult to get the very last fraction of an ounce of water out of the dirty water tank. This is really only annoying when you clean the machine to put it away, it means that part will take forever to dry. (2) The power cord is attached to the bottom of the machine, not up by the handle. It should have some kind of clip to keep it up out of the way, and I found that if I wasnt careful Id keep running over the cord. It would cost literally no money to put a clip for the cord up by the handle, but I guess I will be putting a zip tie on it instead. BTW, having had one of these home carpet cleaning machines for years, the most important tip I can give anybody just starting with one of these things is this: NEVER just run the soap/water solution through the machine and stop. Not only is the job only half done, but worse, the soap residue will dry inside the hoses and mechanism and eventually clog everything up and ruin the machine. Instead, you want to rinse out the clean/water soap mix thing and then run plain water through the machine at least 2x as much as the soap loads. So if you put down 3 loads of soap, plan on running 6 loads of clear water minimum through the machine to get all of that soap you laid down back out of the carpet. As you will soon see, the plain hot water will continue to pull out tons of additional dirt from the carpet along with the soap, and you want the carpet soap out of the carpet before you stop anyway. How do you know when you are done? You should keep going, using just plain water at least until you arent seeing lots of soaping foam coming back out of the carpet, and ideally until the water you are pulling from the carpet is no longer utterly filthy. If the dirty water still has some dirt in it, but it is no longer black as coal and you can start to see through it, that is when you should be about done. And then run the machine over the whole carpet again without any clear water in it to suck up any residual water in the carpet. That will help the carpet dry more quickly. Here was my experience in cleaning an admittedly filthy 8x10 foot rug. First I needed just under two full loads of the soap/water mix to cover the entire carpet. Then I needed to run another 4 loads of plain water to largely remove the soap from the carpet. Then I ran the machine empty over the entire rug several times to get the residual water out of the carpet. All in, it took quite a while and was a fair bit of work, but the end result was excellent, the carpet looks a whole lot better than it did. Overall, I recommend this thing, it is not for everybody, but it should fit the bill for a lot of people.
