This is one of those movies. You either love it or hate it. I heard bad things about it and wasnt expecting much when I first saw it years ago. I bought the DVD years ago and just bought the Amazon stream for my iPad. I love this movie, not for everyone but it fits my sense of humor so 5 stars from me.

I havent watched this movie in about ten years. I forgot how much fun it was. Lots of action and comedy. Movies these days just do not stack up to the movies of the past.

As a child of the 90s, I have fond memories of browsing the shelves of my local video rental store, searching for the latest action-packed blockbuster to watch on my trusty VHS player. So when I stumbled upon the Hudson Hawk - Retro VHS Style release on Amazon, I couldnt resist the opportunity to relive those nostalgic memories. From the moment the movie started playing, I was transported back in time to a simpler era where Bruce Willis was the king of the silver screen and action movies were all about having fun. Hudson Hawk doesnt take itself too seriously, and thats part of its charm. Its a silly, over-the-top adventure thats more concerned with delivering laughs and thrills than telling a coherent story. But what really makes this release stand out is the retro VHS packaging. The artwork on the cover and the tape itself is an homage to the classic video releases of the 80s and 90s. Its a perfect addition to any collection of vintage movies, or just a great way to display your love for all things retro. Of course, the picture and sound quality of the actual movie are not on par with modern releases, but thats to be expected. The grainy, slightly distorted picture and the occasional audio dropout only add to the overall charm of the experience. Its like watching a movie on an old, well-loved VHS tape thats been played a hundred times before. In conclusion, if youre a fan of Bruce Willis, action movies, or just want to relive the glory days of the VHS era, Hudson Hawk - Retro VHS Style is a must-have addition to your collection. Its a fun, entertaining movie that will transport you back in time and put a smile on your face. Highly recommended!

Mosty I see Bruce in action movies and a lot of my friends watched Hudson Hawk and told me that this movie has it all and its the best. The action is put in a way that makes you laugh throughout the entire movie and Bruces acting is very hilarious that you think hes a natural born comedian. Hudson Hawk had some pretty great reviews and everyone just adored him since this time he made them laugh in his own charming way. GUESS YOUR CHARM WORKED AGAIN, MR. HAWK!!!

Why do so many people seem to expect every movie that comes out to be some sort of artistic triumph? Cant they just enjoy a movie for what it was intended to be, i.e.: just plain fun? I seriously doubt the producers of this film ever had any intentions of it being an Oscar-winner in ANY catagory. They simply wanted to make a movie that people could sit back and relax, let go, and just laugh at. Okay, so the artsy-fartsy crowd doesnt like it. Thats fine, cause I dont like them, either. Pretentious, self-serving, hideously obscure, and mind-numbingly boring this movie is NOT, but that seems to be what the critics consider a good motion picture. Sorry, folks, but I enjoy being entertained, not educated all the time. Sometimes you just want to read a comic book, not a great classic novel. Sometimes you want to watch Bugs Bunny cartoons, not 60 Minutes. Sometimes you want to watch a movie for fun, not to be elevated. THAT is what Hudson Hawk is all about!

The movie actually starts off pretty well and I must confess to be slightly surprised with Willis’s comedic capability. Then the plot begins to mold into something completely ridiculous. I suppose if one doesn’t take the plot that seriously, they would enjoy it but it was too ridiculous for my liking.

The conventional wisdom on this 1991 film is that it was a colossal bomb which derailed Willis career. It got terrible reviews, true, and it flopped at the box office, but Ive never been convinced that Hudson Hawk was the awful stinker that its reputation would have you believe. The comedy in this film is certainly off-beat, at times silly, and its easy to understand how the style and tone of this film failed to appeal to film critics. Id agree that Hudson Hawk isnt for everyone. But theres also a slightly surreal, almost absurdist quality to this movie, lurking just behind the surface, and I think that if you accept that not everything in this movie makes literal sense-- or is even intended to make literal sense-- the experience of watching Hudson Hawk is a lot more fun. Relax, switch your brain out of literal mode, and enjoy this bizarre panoply of characters. Youll be glad that you did. The sardonic 90s wit of young Bruce Willis is amusing, and Andie MacDowell is a breath of fresh air. The candy bar gang is hilarious. Sandra Bernhard, in particular, is delicious in her role as the oversexed villainess. If you look at Hudson Hawk as a crime caper, yes, the ending will probably fall flat. If, instead, you look at it as an Alice-in-Wonderland quest for the perfect cup of cappuccino, you wont be disappointed.
