iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit - Electronics, Smartphone, Computer & Tablet Repair Kit

The issue with iFixits tool set is that they use S2 steel which is a type of steel that is prone to shattering, breaking, bending, etc. I didnt know this until I researched it. All the bits were bending, breaking cracking, etc, and I couldnt figure out why until I educated myself on steel Hardness properties. When it comes to bits and the torque that you sometimes will have to use with these bits, you dont want a bit made with S2 steel. They advertise that they use S2 steel like its supposed to be a great thing!... Its not. So I bought this kit a couple years ago, and I have several broken or bent pieces/bits. Look for a better set that has a stronger steel. Bits and tools should be made with a hard steel like what they use in Drill bits. The manufacturers of this tool set probably thought people would be using this set for light work and most of the time that is the case, that is why most people are satisfied with this set. For me, I use this set for everything and anything that needs a really small bit. They constantly snap, break strip or bend. I wouldnt recommend this set until iFixit uses a stronger steel in the bits. I included a pic of a couple examples. This shouldnt happen to bits like this. I wasnt even using much torque/strength when these issues occurred!

This kit is just quality, I bought it over a year ago, not really needing to replace my original iFixIt kit, but I just saw this and wanted it. It really feels like its leagues ahead of its predecessor. The metal feels downright strong whereas the old kit almost felt like aluminum. Its so nice, it makes me want something at work to break so I can constantly use it.

So I have a few other tech toolkits and wasnt pleased with the build quality, after seeing the pro tech toolkits on most of the big tech YouTube channels I figured Id finally get myself one. Overall the packaging is great, the case feels quality and compact for what you get, although Im sure I wont use all of the bits but its good to have them just in case I do one day. That said one issue I noticed is a sticky residue on almost everything inside the bit case, the screwdriver and everything included is sticky and feels like someone poured soda all over and left it out for a few days. Some have rust at the bottom of the bits and the TR9 bit looked like it was stripped or used, kinda disappointed Amazon expects me to send it back to them first to get a refund and then buy another (would have been pleased just doing an exchange) Ill just try putting them in something to get the residue off.

Nice set of tools. Gets the job done.

The best $70 spent works great

This tool set is very high quality and also very nice to look at. I love the foam in the bit set, it is very tough and holds the bits well yet it is pliable enough to easily remove the bits you need. The only slight annoyance with the foam is that the holes for the bits are cut at an angle so that the bits lean back a little when you are looking at them from above as you would if they were on a table in front of you; the problem with that is they then obscure the labels for the bits in the row behind them. In order to find a specific bit in a row other than the front row you need to hold the box up like a you would hold a book to be able to see under the bits. Underneath the top layer of black foam is blue foam and when you take something out you can see the blue which looks really cool and makes it super easy to find where the bit goes that your trying to put back. The bit driver is made of aluminum and the rotating cap is on a ball bearing so it is incredibly smooth and easy to grip, although the knurling on the body of the drive is a little low which makes it somewhat difficult to reach when the top of the driver is resting in the palm of your hand for applying downward pressure, and I have rather large hands at that.
