This is ultimately just a string on a bolt with threads that match a normal tripod mount. If you wanted to DIY, you could easily make your own and just deal with wrapping up the string each time. (Similarly to how the string monopod works using string and a washer and a bolt.) BUT… this is cheap enough you should just get one to add to your collection of X2 toys. Even if you don’t plan to use bullet time, having one means you find yourself using it because you have it with up you. It’s just a nicely packaged way to swing the camera around on the end of a string. Since it is designed specifically for this purpose, I hope it is ridged and strong enough to not let the camera fly off the end and get broken ;) Search YouTube and you will find folks using these in many interesting ways. My favorite was someone who clipped it to their ceiling and let it spin around, circling them at a desk. It gave an impossible shot of a camera spinning around someone at the desk, traveling between the person and their computer screen. Truly a shot that no one would have been able to figure out a decade ago before these cameras existed. (And, actually, probably still in that category to anyone who is unfamiliar with 360 video.) Highly recommend.

If you want to do the “bullet time” videos using the Insta360 camera, get this accessory. Cool effects, attaches securely, fits into the pocket easily. Much less fiddly than the bullet time selfie stick.

So far so good. Wish it would lock in place, or do I? Nice to practice and catch and get some great bullet time shots.

I used this a few times and it did what it was supposed too. it is fun and gadget like, the x3 camera is amazing. this bullet time effect is something I wouldnt use a whole lot but again it is fun. there is no information at all with the product, online or anywhere about that little d-ring screw thing on the other end of the unit. I found out that one side is a sticker you can take off and screw on a selfie stick or something to that but again no information at all anywhere about this feature. Odd.

You really gotta put some force for it to spin nice around u which destroys the quality of the video. Just stick with using the tripod grip. Works so much better and u can control the speed and height of the camera. Dont waste your money on this

If youve already bought an Insta360 X2, you may already know about bullet time. If you dont, check it out. This device is basically nothing more than a coiled textile string which retracts into a handle. There is nothing technologically fancy or unique about this device so you could simply use string attached to a bolt or threaded eyelet into the base of the camera. The build quality is fine and the string does retract into the device (for now, well see about long-term durability in the future), but if you can afford the more expensive rigid 90-degree selfie stick, Id probably trade-up. The problem with this string device is that you have no control over one axis of movement (you are swinging your camera around and it can hit things high and low if youre not careful). With a rigid stick, you could at least control the up and down variation in movement, if that makes sense. Im keeping the device because if you get just a few cool shots, its worth twenty bucks. But if I was going on a vacation or important trip, I might spring for the dedicated and rigid selfie stick.
