Intel 660p Series M.2 2280 1TB PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 3D2, QLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSDPEKNW010T8X1

I have been using the Intel 660p M.2, as a storage medium for editing videos (4k), meaning I dump the raw footage onto the 660P using either or even both Resolve and PrPro/AE to edit, without any lag or having to wait hours for footage to load. I will admit some of the more intense graphics may take a tad longer but I suspect that is more due to limitations of the CPU/GPU.

No issues with this 1TB SSD so far. Decided to go with this SSD product over other vendors because of the longer warranty.

I’ve abused the heck out of this thing. Nvidia ShadowPlay has basically constantly been recording to this for 3ish years now. Drive health is at 95%. Literally no issues. Plenty fast for daily use. If you don’t need bleeding edge stuff, you won’t notice a difference between this and a Samsung 970 Evo or whatever. I’d know, I have one of those as well lol. If all you do is game, this is still a great SSD. I’d assume the newer versions of this are probably worth having a look at.

I bought the 2TB model. The installation was simple; just make sure your board has the right M-Key M2 slot. I just turned off the computer, put this drive in, booted up, and went to the computer management portion in Windows to partition and format it. It was a very easy and fast process. It should be noted this drive uses QLC memory, which is the worst and cheapest. If you are doing a database workload or will utilize heavy writes, like writing 200GB+ files regularly, you wont be happy. If you plan to use this as a drive to store applications such as games, youll be quite happy. This drive has a decently sized SLC cache, so as long as the file writes dont get large and frequent, itll make the drive overall fast enough; by that I mean 2GB/s or very close to it. If the writes are large and frequent, this drive will be slow. If that is your workload...pay for it with an appropriate drive. My use case is a drive to store all of my games. With many being over 50GB now, you need a big drive if you have lots of games like I do. For this purpose, the drive is outstanding in terms of value. It delivers great performance in the use case of reading all those textures and feeding the RAM and CPU. If you want to use this as a boot drive, you can. It will work well in this case, but there are better options if you want outstanding performance. Still, this is a big upgrade if youre using a magnetic disk or old SSD. As to the durability of QLC, if your use case is application storage, this really shouldnt be anything to worry about. Unless youre doing very high write workloads, the SSD will last a long time. I have a 10 year old Intel SSD, and the Intel tool says it is only 10% through its life, and I used that as an OS drive for many many years.

This is an awesome drive for its price. I used the Sintech adapter to install this drive into an MBP2015, and it worked like a charm. The speed isnt the best on the market, at around 1400MB/s read and 1100~1200MB/s write and I am aware that they achieve this speed by having a small cache and speeds will take a hit if you start moving around big media files, but it provides most of the merits of an NVME drive for a super reasonable price(as of April 2019, the 2TB version is $199.99... and to think I bought my first 256GB Crucial M4 for around $600 where I live!). The reason I took off a star is because very recently they had a driver update, and when I installed the Intel Rapid Storage software, it kinda crashed my drive. Luckily I keep daily backups so I didnt lose any important data, but you might want to keep that in mind and make a backup with whatever software available if you ever update your driver and firmware.

This drive is good however it may not work with some systems like HP all in ones with an AMD processor. It did not work, so I had to use a different brand that did work. But not a total loss because I purchased a NVME enclosure so I can still use it as an external drive and it does work quite well. If you have an Intel system I would recommend this drive and you cant beat the price. AMD systems are quite picky on certain hardware, that is one thing Carey Holzman stated and he is correct. If you plan to use this as an external drive I would still recommend.

This is a game changer its my first ssd and my boot times are so fast, my games load so fast I love it. I play a lot of rainbow 6 and so because of ubisoft the game crashes a bit sometimes. Im usually able to close the game and boot it back up in time for the next round of r6 so I dont screw my team over. Windows loads in fast my games load fast, if you havent already get an ssd. I got the 2tb one and I dont think Ill come close to filling it but with games being close to 100gb nowadays maybe I will still tho, highly recommend this ssd if youre gaming.

Let me start off by saying that I bought this particular SSD because I wanted an SDD with 2TB of capacity and triple the speeds of a normal Sata 3 interface and this drive does exactly what I wanted it to do and more! I had to purchase a YATENG PCIe add in card since my HP z420 Workstation doesnt natively support an M.2 NVME SSD and I wanted an SSD that would get triple the speeds of an average Sata 3 SSD with all of my Steam and Uplay Games installed on a secondary drive. I consistently get over 1,500 MBs Read/Write with speeds up to 3.3 MBs at times before throttling down as the SSD heats up; but I have NEVER been below 1,500 MBs EVER with this SSD! My load times for my games are now between 3-7 seconds depending on the game; instead of the typical long load times I got from a Sata 3 SSD or even an Enterprise Class HD! Anyone that has DIED in a game and had to wait for it to reload again knows what I am talking about! For the performance I get from this drive even after having to purchase an add in card to use it; compared to a Sata 3 SSD that costs 2x the price still suffering from the Sata bottleneck, this is a no-brainier to me!

Installed easily, you do have to go in and reformat it for your computer to recognize it. It is fast, I bought it primarily to hold only my games, sure, there are faster ones out there but I promise you will not get a faster frame rate with a faster SSD. This one has more then enough speed for gaming and its the best deal right now for a 2TB SSD. I will be purchasing another one or maybe two 2tb on black Friday. If you do decide to get ANY SSD be sure to leave 25% of the drive free, at the least or you will big it down dramatically. So if you have a 2tb drive, only use 1.5tb of space, at the most. Other then that, this is a great drive, I will purchase a couple more in the future as they get cheaper.

This is the second SSD drive I have used, the other I could not tell you the make or model (inside a work PC) but after having used a PC with this M.2 SSD, I find it hard and frustrating to use anything else (including the work PC that has an older version/style SSD). The drive is stupid fast! Install progress bars open then quickly snap shut (in a great way) because they complete so fast! I have NEVER seen boot times like I do now! I swear it takes me longer to enter my password than it does to come up to a ready working state! Buy more than just one!!
