Lost the silicon lottery. My CPU doesnt clock as high as advertised out of the box. Requires very extreme over lock settings to achieve 5 ghz.

The 12th gen i7 12700k is one of the best gaming CPUs on the market when you even out all the factors including budget, speed, performance, overclocking, etc. I have a 3 fan AIO to cool this beast, I recomend you do the same to ensure a long lasting chip.

this is really a next gen! low temps, stable, really fast and big overclocking opportunity!

Very fast at a good price point. Upgraded from i7 series 9. Twice as fast as the previous CPU, when using my astronomy image processing software.

Upgraded from an i5-7500 and a B8 gigabyte mobo. I was torn between a 13 gen i5 and this, and Im happy I chose this! First off, the box came damaged. The cpu was fine though. I paired this with a MSI z690 Tomahawk and a Thermalright peerless 120 se. The cooler keeps this guy at around 80*F, while gaming. As for the CPU, its a beast. I havent even tapped into what it can handle. I bought this when it went on sale for $264. Just for kicks, I had like 25 chrome tabs, afterburner, discord, a few random programs and Hogwarts Legacy all open and the CPU didnt get past 100*F nor did the CPU load go beyond 40%. The multitasking is wild. The thread count is crazy. Bottom line. This CPU is an awesome purchase and you wont be disappointed.

Idles in the 20s. Does require a beefy cooler, Im using a Noctua D15S. I did have a U14S on it idling in the low 30s, but the fan was revved up by default to a level I didnt enjoy. Make sure you need this much power. If youre just gaming get a 12400 instead. This processor trades blows with the amd 5900x. Performance and stability are excellent. I have five nvme m.2 drives on it right now (four on motherboard and another in a card). Everything is lightning fast. Be aware the drivers will NOT work with the older versions of Win10, and you will need to make a newer version of Win10 from microsofts own site. Aside from that minor inconvenience, everything works well.

Cpu works great. Performance is unreal. Only complaint isn’t with the cpu itself but with delivery. Only reason for 4 stars is Packaging was TERRIBLE! Box was smooshed so bad I’m surprised it actually works

Its been roughly 6-7 years since I last build my gaming computer. Upgrading to this has been more than significant. As of this writing, I hope youve done your research the I7-12700ks price point and its competition. For this price point, it may be the top dog.

The i7-12700K is in the top 5 for gaming CPUs right now. AMD is doing fairly well as of late but Intel has a solid performance lead with its single core performance on newer generation chips.
