Intel Core i7-12700K Desktop Processor 12 (8P+4E) Cores up to 5.0 GHz Unlocked  LGA1700 600 Series Chipset 125W

I need a new PC mainly to process photos. I was considering AMD Ryzen 7 5800X when I read the benchmark for Intels 12th generation CPUs are better than the 5800X running Adobe software. But it has a bad reputation for hogging power. The attached screen shot shows that power consumption slightly exceed the TDP of 125W during Lightroom batch export. But to my surprise, once the export is finished, power consumption is very low, even less than my AMD 4800H based laptop. Background processing uses the more efficient E-cores.

i7 is so much more affordable than i9 and probably not that big of a performance difference

Lost the silicon lottery. My CPU doesnt clock as high as advertised out of the box. Requires very extreme over lock settings to achieve 5 ghz.

I went from a i7 4770k to this. AND WOW. It doesnt even sweat at anything I throw at it.

Yo trabajo con edición y producción audiovisual, ha mejorado mucho el rendimiento de la PC, sin duda su velocidad base es una gran ventaja, no utilizo OC porque creo que a día de hoy no hay mucho beneficio y perfectamente con la velocidad base puede con las tareas multitasking con programas pesados.

I can’t believe how insanely fast this processor is. I paired this with a TUF Z690/noctua and couldn’t be happier!

Excellent upgrade option.

Got a bad one. Worked like crazy trying to figure out the issue and on board video was working some but not always. Sent it back and got another that works amazing. Water coolers dont have the correct spacer for this chip but I checked the website and got one for under 10. So factor that into your water cooling cost.

Came on time, works great, hasn’t failed so thats good. Serves my purposes.
