i was a devoted AMD fan, until the X570 Ace started bothering me with the dreaded USB issue, after trying serval fixes, including Bios updates that came promising to fix the issue, also am a system builder since 2005, and as my part time business I build high end systems, and seeing how many stability issues AMD has from time to time I wanted to just give Intel a chance, and am glad i did, this is now in my main system, along with my trusty FTW3 3080, had to upgrade my motherboard and went with a Z690 Aero D, DDR5, am really happy with it, saw a noticeable improvement over the AMD with DDR5, at 1080p 1440p and 4k, but mainly I saw a great improvement in VR, i have to bring up that this isnt an advisable upgrade if you are running anything new gen, like AMD 5k or Intel 10th or 11th, as the differences will be negligible, but if you are in the market for the best right now, nothing that AMD offers at the moment competes as far as single core, or multi core for the most part, and ironically this time intel offers better value, good times indeed.

Its a good CPU, able to game and do the productive stuff. I paired it with DDR5. People say it gets hot but I havent found that even though Im only using a Noctua air cooler. Those little E cores actually do some work, and of course the P cores are fast. Its funny that the E cores are considered efficiency cores because they do use a lot of power.

While I was away on a deployment I wanted to come back home to a little PC project, but wanted to build something more high-end (my previous build being an i7-9700K and 2080 Super). Luckily I heard about this i9 getting on the market and I was looking at the Ryzen 5900X, but I had a good experience with my previous Intel CPU (Nothing bad with the couple Ryzen builds I’ve had either).

Obviously a fast and capable chip but this chip must be installed with a thermal contact frame . The chip warps at high temps causing loss of contact with the cooler. This leads to random reboots and/or shutdowns. Thermal contact frame will prevent this issue .

Easy to setup, Runs fast, some bioss you have to enable the last turbo level manually instead of auto if you want to see 5.2ghz. You need to go water cooling or get an EK Elite 360 D-RGB and some IC Diamond 24TIM if you want this cpu to run cooler and not have the temps go out of control on you. Any other AIO is not up to it, no matter how much it cost. It can ran 4x16 3600 CL18 Corsair Vengeance RGB-Pro 3600 CL18 no issues, or Run 2x16 G.Skill Trident Royal Z 4000mhz CL16 B-Die no issues if you are on a Z690 DDR4 board. I would not go past 4400mhz DDR4 on a kit if you want it to run at stock/advertised speeds. But yeah, take my advice on cooling or say hello to 90-100c temps on the core.

I dont play anything too intensive. Maybe Elden Rings? I am more of a FPS/CSGO player and this CPU goes up by maybe two degrees when I play those games. With a Noctua DH-15 this thing is ice cold.

Latest gen, as fast as they come, and a good price to boot.

I though I was lucky when I snagged one of these right after it was released. Now my very expensive new computer is just sitting around collecting dust because of the worldwide shortage of DDR5 memory. Intel being such a massive company should have forseen this and used their resources or pressure to at least make sure the initial roll out had memory for the performance builders as we drive the market in the first place. Oh well.
