Joshs Frogs Substrate Barrier (24x18)

Well this definitely works as a barrier, because it doesnt let anything through. Even water. I cut it to size, placed it over the top of my drainage layer, and decided to test it before adding all my substrate. Im really glad that I did that now. After I poured a bit of water on top, it pooled up on the barrier and did not go through. I figured it might just be slowly trickling down so I left it overnight and the water was still standing on top the next day. Unfortunately that defeats the purpose of using it over a drainage layer.

Works great HOWEVER you can get an several FEET of this at home depot/lowes/walmart for the same price or cheaper. Its simply a mulch garden barrier.

These barriers were part of going bioactive in my gecko and frog enclosures. I was worried that getting a wire mesh barrier would cause cuts and scrapes on my pets, especially my frogs. This is not a problem with these soft ones.

This was nothing but a con job, this was a very poorly (sloppy as all get out) hand cut piece of ultra thin weed barrier from like a Family Dollar where it will cost $5 for a 24 x 50 foot roll. I am angry that they sent me this useless overpriced junk. Screw you Joshs Frogs, your sloppy gougey repackage job sucks and you should be ashamed! I bought 5 of these for $8 each, OUCH!

Don’t waste your time or money with this product. I have to now remove all of my plants and substrate to remove this barrier and replace it with something else because this will not let a SINGLE drop of water through. What is the purpose of a false bottom if water can’t get past the barrier?

My animals like this stuff. It works well with other items to put together a more natural enviroment.

I thought this would be way more material and would at least attempt to compete on the price tag with others who offer the same material at a lower cost for more than youll get here. Nope. Ill not be buying this again.

I wish I had taken a better picture. But I use the substrate barrier for many terrariums and habitats. Placed over the false bottom substrates then using Josh’s mixes to top it.
