> 3 dayI originally had 16 gauge throughout my house then upgraded to 12 gauge and the difference was significant enough that even my wife noticed a huge difference. I moved to a new house and decided to try a small amount of this 10 gauge to see if there was an improvement over the 12 and there absolutely is! I would saw percentage-wise maybe 10-15% but the difference and identical volume levels is perceptible to most any ear. Keep in mind this wire cannot turn bad speakers in to good ones, but it will help you maximize that investment at a minimal cost. I have purchased over 700 feet of these because it is so good and well-priced. Also, I called this companies customer service and they were very helpful in assisting me with varying speaker wire and cables on their website and shipping was very fast.

08-06-2025I’ve purchased a ton of this for speaker wire and like it but now I’m trying to solder it and the solder bounces off. I’ve tried for hours to solder this even with map gas I can’t get the solder to stick.

> 3 dayI replaced 12 gauge speaker wire with these. There is a noticeable difference in sound quality especially at the higher frequencies. I have Magnepans which are planar magnetic speakers. They are normally bright at the higher frequencies. These cables made them even brighter. Not harsh, but better. I can hear small details in the music. The cables are 10 gauge very soft stranded copper. I have 2 25’ foot lengths. I can say they are heavy but very good quality for the money.

These materials are commonly used, but not commonly stated when shopping online. Know what you are purchasing. Both metals are capable of performing up to their rated loads.

Wire gauge is crucial to powering your system correctly. Undersized cable will create unsafe conditions and may shorten your amplifier"s life.
True American Wire Gauge (AWG) Products
- Using American Wire Gauge standards, the gauge of stranded wire is determined by the total area of the conductor.
- To calculate this you would take the area of each strand and add it together. This area, in square mm, then determines gauge.
- Speaker Wire is often written as 10-2 or 10/2. This means 10 gauge x 2 conductor, both positive and negative signal are carried within one cable and are each 10 gauge.
- Diameter is not as critical with stranded wire, this is due to the tiny air gaps between each strand. Diameter may fluctuate with strand size and how tightly wound the rope of the cable is.
- The smaller the number, the larger the wire, until you reach zero or aught (0). Most speaker wire ranges from 10 to 16 gauge. 18 to 22 gauge is often much too thin for most Home Theater applications.
- Based on AWG, the true gauge of this cable is 10 Gauge
