Kohler Genuine Part Gp1059291 Canister Seal - Pack 2

I have a new home I moved into in February 2022. I have replaced both bathrooms toilet seals twice. There is a reason they come 2 to a pack. Do yourself a favor and help the 2nd one handy. I rated this a 4 because the replacement is only about 2 minutes and super simple.

Bought the kholer gasket, my kholer toilet was flushing on its own. I looked it up on utube. Watched the video and in 10 minutes my toilet was fixed. This is a great product, I ordered 3 more

I know that there are less expensive 3rd party alternatives, but Ive simply had too many problems with them. These things last for years (the one that I am replacing has lasted for 10 years), and if the new genuine part can last just as long, I dont really care for the price difference. I would rather do this once every 10 years. That said, I bought mine at a local big box store. Certainly, ordering from Amazon would have been easier, especially with the Prime membership, but I didnt need 2. And if I need to replace it again in 10 years, the chances are, I wouldnt know where I stored it and/or it might have even dried out. Besides, buying 2 didnt provide any cost savings either. 1 retail package from the local big box store was almost exactly 1/2 of what Amazon sells for 2 packages. Just buy 1 when you need it. Replacing it was super simple, 5 min job. One tip that I would offer is to have an old toothbrush (or any small brush for that matter) to scrape off the mating surfaces clean. As you can see in the picture, the old one completely disintegrated, and the residual pieces were stuck on the mating surfaces. The old toothbrush did a good job at removing them and keeping the mating surfaces clean for the new seal. Good luck.

Installs easy. Before installing the new seal, make sure that the cannister flange and bottom contact area are clean.

If your Kohler toilet is running a lot, it may be time to replace this part. Solved the problem. Easy to install. Glad these are available on Amazon and the price is good too.

The seal works great, but the package only contains one. I reported it to amazon and they replaced the item and the second package only contained 1 seal.
