> 3 dayMy 2015 Sonata hood struts gave out and would no longer hold the hood open after five years. On the Hyundai parts website it list a single Lift Cylinder - Hyundai (81161-C1000) for a $155.51 ($311.02 for a set). I looked on line for another option and ordered these hood struts/lift cylinders and they fit perfectly and installed in minutes. Be sure to prop your hood open with a piece of wood or some other object to support the hood when you take the old hood strut out. Simply use a screwdriver to pry the clip that holds the old struts on the ball joints and pull the hood strut off (lots of videos on the internet showing how to do this). To install the new hood struts simply snap over the ball joints on the car (no need to pry the clips). Finally, move the hood up and down a few times to ensure it works. It is that simple. These replaced part number 81161-C1000 which can be found printed on the original struts in the car (see attached picture).

24-11-2024I can not address longevity as JUST changed out the hood lift spports on a 2015 Sonata. Hood would not stay up. Ordered these. Sipping was fast. Looks to be a quality part. CLEAR directions on how to replace were provided. Had the daughter hold the hood up so it would not hit on my head:) Took ALL OF 5 mins. to change out the right and left hood lift supporters. All is good now:)

> 3 dayOEM parts are $500 plus labor for installation. I bought these for 40 bucks and installed them in ten minutes. Longevity remains to be seen since they’re brand new, but you can’t beat the price.
