I am 80 years but I still have good eyesight except for the smaller, lighter print or on colored background which does not provide good contrast and some of which seems designed to make it difficult to read. I have reading glasses & the magnifier app on my iPhone but sometimes I need a little more. Reading glasses are good except for the small, light fine print & the camera on the iPhone is off center so I am always searching for my target but it is handy. I have a couple of the Acrylic lens magnifiers which are advertised as good as glass but they are not. They are usually unclear & easily scratched so I wanted a lens of real glass but they often come from scientific firms & cost Big Bucks. This Real Glass magnifier matches my needs. **This 30X magnifying glass is heavy & bulky with a wide handle so it could be a task to use for long periods of time but the image is Clear, the 30X magnification much, much better than anything from the big box store, you are looking right through the Large lens so no issue finding what you want to enlarge, the 12 White LED lights provide bright, even lighting & the lens is Real Glass. I think magnification comes from having 2 lens a distance apart rather than a single solid lens but IT WORKS. **The switch is a large convenient slide switch which is easy to operate. This item is so inexpensive that I have to question its durability because it is so inexpensive but so far I have no other reason to believe that it will not be durable. It uses 2 AA batteries & the battery compartment is easy to access. The lights are LED so 2 AA batteries should last quite some time & the lights themselves should last a long time. It comes in a somewhat thin plastic bag with a flap which will be resealable for a few dozen times which is inside of a fairly sturdy cardboard box. I store it back inside of both but I wish they had an option for a cloth bag or an easy open, lined hard-shell case such as eyeglasses often come in. From the picture I had thought the white plastic might look cheap but in reality the white with a wide black band around the lens on top looks nice. **I am likely to buy a couple more to keep in different locations since it is not the most portable of items. I definitely recommend this 30X REAL GLASS magnifier to anyone who needs such & it is inexpensive enough that even if you dont need but just want one, it is a good buy.

I bought this magnifying glass to help with working puzzles. I have used it for several other things since I got it; like reading some engraving on a ring, reading the small print on the back insurance and credit cards, reading any kind of small print. In fact Ive used it more for reading things I cant see with my eyeglasses more than Ive used it for working puzzles. What I like: 1. It magnifies well and I can read small print with it and pick out details on puzzle pieces with it. 2. The lens is clear (not foggy or blurry). 3. The built in light is handy for some things (like reading/finding details on a paper or card). 4. It is big and thick, so its easy to hold when arthritis in my hands is limiting my fingers ability of grip. What I dont like: 1. The big size (that I like when my hands are not working properly) can be cumbersome in some circumstances. Its not going to get into tight or narrow spaces. Overall I like the magnifying glass and would recommend it for simple things. Its not a top of the line magnifier, it feels like a toddler toy. If you are working with fine details and precision, maybe check another option. This is a good basic magnifying glass.

My eyes keep getting weaker and the print keeps getting smaller! This works! Better than most!

This magnifier is heavy and you have hold it close to enlarge the item. But the light is bright.

This magnifier features led lights. I use it to read maps and directions while navigating for my daughter. I used it to excise splinters in my granddaughters fingers. It is a powerful magnifier. When the neighborhood loss electrical power in a storm recently, we used the light feature to find our safety lanterns in the pitch darkness. Worth every penny!

Typical of most handheld glasses, magnification only works if the glass is within 5 to 6 inches of the object. Blurs after that. The 12 LEDs put out too much light for looking directly at some objects. But it does what its supposed to do.
