> 24 hourMy son refined this play set for Christmas and it was a huge hit. It comes with a lot of different “tools” and is great for imaginative play. It has also helped a lot with anxiety surrounding doctors visits.

> 24 hourThis doctors kit is an absolute winner from Melissa & Doug. Weve ordered so many products from them, simply because theyre all terrific at helping our Daughter to really use her imagination. Anything that helps her to unplug from the TV or tablet, and just use her mind, is always a great thing to us. And this was just a wonderful gift for her. Our Little Girl is obsessed with doctoring her dolls and animals. She can spend hours just pretending to care for them, bandage them, give them pretend medicine. So she was beyond thrilled when this arrived in the mail. Everything it comes with is all steak and no fat, everything your kid would want and use. The only thing I couldnt identify at a glance was the hearing tester, but it didnt matter, because she still came up with a use for it. Our Daughter pretty much plays with every piece in the set. Shes partial to the stethoscope, the otoscope (thing they look in your ears with), and the show me where you hurt card thing. She will absolutely use everything in the kit on her stuffed animals, or on me. She goes through the motions like a real doctor, and even pretends to be the pediatrician weve been taking her to since she was born. Shell ask me to point on the card of the body, to show where Im hurt or not feeling well. Then she attempts to make a diagnosis by checking multiple things. Usually its the stethoscope first, though she often uses the temporal thermometer to see if I have a fever. I personally think its awesome that it looks and functions like the thermometer we check her temp with (the temperature changes as you roll it across your forehead). Then the otoscope, tongue depressors to see in my mouth. After that, its time to treat. So she either bandages me, gives me cream to rub on my bobo, or gives me medicine. Im given a clean bill of health. And then she repeats the process (about 30 times in a row with me or a stuffed animal, but Im definitely not complaining about awesome Dad-Daughter time). Do I have any cons about this kit? Sure, a couple, although nothing that would warrant dropping a star from the rating. Its pretty simple things. The blood pressure cuff, its a bit tricky to get it over her bicep. If your kid is six, I cant imagine it would fit at all, theyd have to use it on their forehand. Another thing that could have been better is how the scissors are used. Our Daughter assumes that the purpose of the scissors is to cut open bandages placed on the patient, when they finally get well. Only the scissors are sort of flimsy. So if she tries to cut open the area where the Velcro is attached on either of the two bandages. it takes her at least half a dozen tries until I sneakily open it on my end. Granted, the scissors arent really meant to do that. But it would have been cool if they had a practical use for the scissors. Maybe a bandage that can be cut and then restored somehow? Overall, I think its an excellent doctors kit. And our Daughter just loves it, she literally spends hours every day playing with it. She absolutely forgets that her tablet or the TV exists when shes playing with it. And what more can you ask for, than a toy that helps stimulate a childs mind, and expand their imagination. If your child likes anything about pretending to doctor their toys, you absolutely have to add this to your cart now. I promise you, they will love this kit. She cant get enough Daddy-Daughter time when it comes to playing with this kit, and you cant do better than quality, constructive time with your child. I 100% recommend this kit.

> 24 hourI would have given this more stars if we hadnt also gotten the Melissa and Doug pet vet set. My daughter was very excited to play with this and always wanted to check if we were sick and it was very cute, until we got the vet set which thoroughly supplanted this one. Theres a good bit of overlap between the two sets, but the vet set also includes 2 plush animals and some more interactive toys. My daughter wasnt really sure what to do with the hearing test and didnt even like the stethoscope as much as Id expected. She likes trying to play with the blood pressure cuff, but its a little bit too difficult for her to squeeze the bulb due to its odd shape. It also came with 3 tongue depressors that we had to remove because they were a bit splintery and we dont really want her learning to stick toys in her mouth regardless. She does really enjoy playing with the thermometer, syringe and bandages, and there is a lot of variety in this kit, but it just feels like there couldve been better decisions made on what to include or how the toys function. The vet play set seems like much more fun and a better value toy.
