I might have missed it on the description but the buckles are for visual purposes only; the front cover snaps into place. We were hoping the buckles would be a theft deterrent but I dont think a potential thief would know.

Now that we found out the wallet in the back pocket can cause issues with the sciatic nerve we needed an alternative before his got any worse. This bag was manly enough to do the trick. He doesnt feel like he is carrying a purse and it looks great. He keeps keys in the wee little pocket and everything else can go in the inside pockets. He has way more room than he would ever need I think but its nice to have the room just in case.

> 3 dayI like this bag for the most part. Its not too small and not too big. Just the right size for day trips. The first major drawback is the buckle on the top of the bag opens in a way that its end up becoming a spike in the top of the bag (see photo). Ive impaled my hand a couple times not paying attention to this buckle.
