The base is fixed. If you turn the base facing you so the controls read left to right you end up with the light sticking on your face. The base must sit side ways. The on off light stays on while plugged in. It is as bright as the night light. I wanted to use the lamp in my bedroom but I hate light while I sleep. I would like to send the darn thing back.

Love lamp and the price

I purchased another lamp prior to this one and could only get it to work by unplugging and re-plugging the cord into the lamp. I was able to return it and found this lamp. At the time there werent any reviews and was a little leery to purchase it but now I see that there are, and they are all 5 out of 5 and glad I took a chance. Very pleased with every aspect of this lamp. Very reasonable price and exceeds all of my expectations!

This lamp arrived fast! I love the Heavy Bottom, I know its not going anywhere. Modern desk lamp that Ill have forever. I love that there is NO replacing light bulbs. Safe Cord that plugs directly into the wall outlet. I never dreamed of spending this much money on a Desk Lamp. I believe this lamp is worth the investment. Im a crafter, this lamp is perfect!
