This has protected my make shift vanity extremely well. It also looks nice so I just always leave it on the desk top. Ill even put it on the carpet when Im lazy and do my hair sitting on the ground. Its also a great sie. I dont have problems with any of my hot tools.

At my last house I had the bad habit of resting my hot iron the counter which ended up making the counter bubble. I didnt that to happen at our new place, so I purchased this and so far so good! Especially considering I keep my hot iron at the hotter temp.
