Great stuff, great price. You can’t go wrong with monoprice speaker wire.

This is a really high quality wire. I bought it to extend a security camera power source along the baseboard and up along a window. It blended against the painted trim perfectly. It was heavy enough to solder and is a nice quality copper. I would feel safe using it for speaker wire or power.

This cable is a nice heavy gage for covering long distances, the insulation is a good thickness and removes easily so the conductors dont get nicked. Ive bought several spools of this as Ive worked on different rooms in the house and would definitely get more as needed. Highly recommended.

Love this use it for all my installs

This is the third AV speaker system Ive installed in my home over about a 4-year period. The first two were fished through the walls and over ceilings, terminated in boxes inside the walls with jacks and connected with banana plugs. The most recent installation is surface mounted with runs along the casings and up the walls behind draperies for simplicity. In all cases Ive used Monoprice cabling. The first system is larger with more wattage, so I used 12 gauge cables. The other two are smaller, so I used 14 gauge cabling with good results. This is twisted solid copper wire, not copper-coated aluminum, which seems to be the case with some lower-priced competing products. Im very happy with the results in all cases. If there is any issue, it may be that the wire ends have to be tightly twisted when attempting to make a connection with the standard blade clamps present on many AV receivers and speakers. Also, getting the wire connected to banana plugs presents similar minor challenges. None of this is a deal breaker and anyone with rudimentary wiring skills will not encounter serious difficulties. It is recommended that the installer have available a few basic wiring tools, such as a good wire cutter or heavy wire cutting pliers, a quality wire stripper and a tool capable of cutting a moderately bulky cable. In some cases, soldering the connections to banana plugs might be advisable. Ive purchased at least 750 feet of this cable or the heavier 12 guage and would purchase again if I decided to install yet another (fourth) AV system.

Did exactly what I needed. Good speaker wire.

Outer jacket was surprisingly easy to strip. Held up well as I was jerking it through the attic. I don’t really have any complaints.

Clean and neat when running multiple wires.

This was exactly what I needed to run speaker wire to my new outdoor speakers. The small diameter package made it much easier to pull through walls than normal 18 gauge speaker wire.

Get the most out of your home audio system with high quality, oxygen-free, pure bare copper speaker wire from monoprice!

this speaker wire features two conductors made of high purity (greater than 99.95% pure), oxygen-free bare copper. Pure bare copper is a superior conductor to the copper clad aluminum (CCA) conductors used in most other inexpensive speaker wire. Cca is only about 68% as conductive as pure bare copper. This additional resistance is added to the impedance of your speakers and can negatively effect The sound.

for the wire to have no audible effect, The total wire resistance should be no more than 5% of the lowest impedance of your speakers. Even speakers rated for a nominal 8-ohms, may dip to as low as 4-ohms at some frequencies, which further reduces the total cable resistance allowed in the wire. Using pure bare copper speaker wire ensures that the total load put on the amplifier remains as close as possible to the impedance curve of your speakers.

for example, a 16AWG 2-conductor pure bare copper speaker wire has a total resistance of 0.803 ohms per 100 feet (both directions must be considered). by comparison, a 16AWG 2-conductor CCA speaker wire has a total resistance of 1.181 ohms per 100 feet. Assuming 4 ohms is the lowest impedance of your speakers, a speaker wire run can be no more 0.2-Ohms total. 20 feet of 16AWG pure bare copper would be 0.1606 ohms, well under the 0.2-Ohm limit. On the other hand, 20 feet of 16AWG CCA would be 0.2362 ohms, well over the 0.2-Ohm limit.

each conductor is jacketed with color-coded PVC for easy polarity identification. The entire cable assembly is jacketed in a white, CL2-rated PVC material. The CL2 rating indicates that the cable complies with fire safety and insurance requirements, making it safe for use inside the walls of residential class buildings.
