> 3 dayFirstly, this is not required to run any game on the 3DS, but the added buttons will improve some games. The 3DS slide pad expansion is the Japanese version of the circle pad pro. However, this still works on American systems. This expansion model is only for original 3DS models and provides an additional circle pad, two new shoulder buttons/triggers, and another R shoulder button. This expansion will only work on a few games. The Monster Hunter series, Kingdom Hearts, Kid Icarus, and Metal Gear are a few supported titles. Smash Bros is not supported. It is also worth mentioning the expansion makes the system more comfortable to hold. Mario Kart 7 requires you to hold A this is uncomfortable on the original 3DS, but with the expansion the game is much easier to play despite not using any of the buttons. The expansion runs on a single AAA battery. The single battery will last a long time, but itd still be smart to have extras lying around for when it does die. Its also worth noting the manual is completely Japanese, but this is not a big deal since the device is pretty simple to understand.

> 3 dayIts ok, just that my console was the 3dsxl. But it says well for small models, I had to return this item, since I bought the wrong one.

> 3 dayWorks as expected. If you have big hands it helps prevent hand cramping even if you dont need to use the extra stick.

> 3 dayWorks as intended. Gives some weight and grip for the normal 3DS. Id prefer this over the New 3DS nub any day, but I still use both systems. Id definitely recommend this to people!

Greater than one weekSo I bought this knowing that it would only work for certain games, but I was hoping for something that would make holding the 3DS more comfortable. It is easier to hold but makes the system more bulky, and although the circle pad pro doesnt weigh much, you do feel the difference holding the 3DS when its attached. I also thought (incorrectly) that since the R button is now in an awkward position, that the system itself would recognize the Circle Pad Pro and make the R button on the Circle Pad Pro the default R button, but it doesnt. Unless the game itself recognizes the Circle Pad Pro, youll still have to use the standard R button on the 3DS, which is now in a more awkward to reach place. I couldnt find any settings in the 3DS menu that will allow the 3DS itself to recognize the Circle Pad Pro. Overall, its not a bad attachment and does make the 3DS more comfortable but the complete lack of support for other titles, even just the lack of remapping the R button, makes it not really worth it.
