I purchased this for my Russian Campbells Dwarf hamster who really likes sand. It is a very large sand box, and I filled it with 2 inches of reptile sand all the way around (about 3 lbs worth). She is much too small to climb in or out without assistance. I had to use a bendy bridge to ramp down into the sand box and another hamster toy to assist her in climbing to the food bowl portion. She still tries to pull her self up from the edge of the food platform and ends up flipping off and falling onto her back. Hamsters are not great climbers (except for Chinese hamsters-- theyre pretty good at climbing). Im fairly certain this would not be a problem for a Syrian hamster, but Campbells, Winter White, or Roborovski Dwarfs may have difficulty climbing in and out. The sand box is very nice though. Well constructed and made of solid materials. The bowl cannot be moved around; there is a hole in the center of the platform that holds it in place. You can remove the bowl, but then you are left with a hole. I think the design could be improved if the bowl were on the side so there would be enough room to put the Niteangel water bottle and stand. Overall, I would recommend this sand box for Syrian hamsters and larger hamsters. It may be difficult to use for smaller hamsters without modifications to help them in and out.

My only dislike about this product is that the wood chips pretty easily.

He uses it now as a bed and bathroom. (^_^*) I think if I got something smaller he would use it just for fun.

I bought the Syrian-sized one originally for my Syrian hamster. It was huge, my wheel had to sit in it because in a 40-gallon breeder tank there just wasnt another place to put it. A 12 inch wheel stand basically takes up all the space in the sand bath though. lol. I had to take off the platform to fit the wheel. I switched it out for my Syrian for a smaller sand bath and moved this one to my robo hamsters cage. Its stacked ontop of a nightangel 6 chamber hide on stilts. This is really the best way Ive found to use this sand bath, otherwise it just takes up too much space in a 640 sq/in enclosure. Cleaning: ugh. Its wood. When I removed it from the Syrian cage there were big pee stains from where the syrian had been using it for like 2 weeks. I decided it wasnt the best use case because of that. The robo doesnt dig to the bottom of the sand bath to pee, so Im hoping she wont stain the inside. If she does its fine since sand will be over it. I prefer the acrylic sand baths for this reason, but Im hoping this big sand bath will actually contain the sand for my robo since she liked to kick all the sand out.

I did read the dimensions before ordering this but wow, its really big! This is in a 40 gallon terrarium and it takes up almost half. Filled it with digging material and still had enough room to place a cactus hideout with bathing sand.

I love this sand bath, it is perfect for my Robo hamster, it is easy to clean and very roomy. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a nice sand bath. 100% satisfied.

This sand bath is incredibly large but fits great in my 70 gallon bin! I love how large it is and my hamster enjoys it a lot! I definitely recommend getting this for your fuzzy friend it really adds to the enclosure!

Our little hamster loves her sand bath. I could of gotten the smaller size because we have a small hamster but she loves to roll in it and also loves to hide food under the lid part. Very well made as all Niteangel products are. Berries will stain the wood but I also have not treated it with anything. Would recommend 100%.
