Park Tool ASC-1 Anti-Seize Compound

> 3 dayHave you ever seen a weight weenie who likes 21 pound full suspension mountain bikes or 11 pound road bikes, install titanium bolts into an aluminum or carbon fiber frame to save 30 grams on the overall weight of the bike? Or even worse, install a titanium bolt into a titanium frame ? (not recommended even with anti-seize compound) I have, and unfortunately I have also seen the damage done when someone tries to forcefully extract the same seized titanium nut or bolt a year later, which then has to be drilled out or in some cases can even ruin the frame. That is where anti-seize compound comes in. And Park Tools formulation is just as good if not better than any generic compound you buy at an auto store. I have no idea what the exact elements are in this Park Tools lube but I would not be surprised if it was partially Moly-50 with some zinc added for best protection with aluminum and titanium. (which also would work equally well with carbon fiber). At any rate, this lube works well. Very nice to have for bottom brackets on my titanium hardtail and for bolt hardware. I have been using this lube for multiple rebuilds over the last 15 years roughly and this has saved my butt from galled, corroded and seized components on more than one occasion. In my book, that makes it five stars!

Greater than one weekIf you do your own bike maintenance and want to make your life easier, use anti-seize on all of your fittings. One tube of this will last years.

> 3 dayKeeps dissimilar metals from fusing together. I used a light coating inside an aluminum seat post collar on a titanium frame.

> 3 dayAwesome Compound, it really does work. I will say its a lot for the price but since its made in America you get what you pay for. It will last me a long time, as long as you use it in small amounts, it wasn’t just perfect for my bottom bracket, but Threaded surfaces like limit screws, axles, cone nuts, axle nuts, threaded spacers, etc. Ive used this on Limit screws, my Bottom Bracket, any place with a machined threaded surface, hole etc. In fact on my bottom bracket shell of my frame was threaded, I did put ASC-1 grease on the threads inside the shell before installing the Bottom Bracket. The biggest problem I have had is the stripping of the threads, which is my biggest problem, so I started using it on screws on my derailleurs including my freewheel, and anything and everything with a threaded surface going into metal parts. This stuff really is awesome, and Park Tool is a brand and company I trust completely they really do know what theyre doing. My only Recommendation to Park Tool is to put this in a tub like they have with PPL-1. Otherwise if you go through a lot of this you have to be prepared to spend a lot. Otherwise, I highly recommend it!

> 3 dayWorks great for steel bolts in alloy parts. Would be nice if a smaller tube was available. A little is all you need.

> 3 dayI usually just use some general purpose grease (cheap and does the job) for the occasional bike maintenance but thought Id splurge since I was building from the frame up. Glad I did! Works great, dispenses conveniently, and doesnt have the nasty stink of general purpose grease.
