Greater than one weekWorks well with the griots garage orbital buffer. Spot buffing and waxing is great. Waxing a SUV can take a while with the 3 pad but still leaps and bounds faster and more effective than by hand. My SUV takes about 1.5 hours with a couple breaks and I can get through my sports car in about 45 minutes.

Greater than one weekThis pad, when used with as part of a resurface system beginning at 800 or 1000 wet sanding and continuing on to 1500, 2000, 3000, 5000 grit wet sanding, put a mirror perfect finish on my 2000 Mercedes headlight lenses. Many will stop at 1500 or 2000 grades then move on to polishing with soft foam pad and polish compound but, while the surface will appear shiny, the underlying rough lenses surface will cause your headlight beam to be fuzzy and diffused dramatically reducing light output and clarity... and noticeable lost of night time illumination. Same stepped finishing process on your cars painted surfaces will yield glass like finishes when polished with 3M Perfect-it Ultrafine foam polish pad and an 3M Perfect-It Ultrafine polish. These 5000 grit discs you will restore to factory new clarity and surface smoothness for a 100% crystal clear restoration. It is extra work and expense but, you will not be disappointed by the end result and the finish quality will last much longer. Dont forget to apply appropriate UV protectant to lenses - Meguiars Headlight Protectant is excellent and easy to apply each time you wax

> 3 dayJust stick with what professional body shops use , neighborhood weekend detailing? These people use what’s available at nearby auto parts counters at Walmart.

> 3 dayI use the blue soft buffing pad with the Meguiars Ultimate Polish for a quick fix for foggy headlights. Its a 10 minute fix for most lenses. The real bad ones get 3Ms Super Duty Rubbing Compound with a purple stiff pad. Usually one application, sometimes two to clean very foggy lenses, followed by the blue pad with the Meguiars Ultimate Polish, followed with car wax. I use a Bosh 12 volt drill and it works great. I got all my products and the drill at Amazon where the prices are low and delivery is excellent.

Greater than one weekI ordered these fulfilled by Amazon. I have purchased 3M hookit pads before. This is the first time I order the Perfect-It Ultrafine. When I received them, I thought these were counterfeit 3M pads because low quality. I simply cannot believe these are 3M products when I compare them to my other 3M pads and adhesive discs -- but they are and 3M confirmed it. Cons: Pad is uneven - one side is thicker than the other. Pad backing is not like other 3M hookit pads I own. The Velcro is damaged and it barely sticks to the 3M hookit backing disc Pad is very soft and does not hold shape - my other 3M pads are firm and hold their shape. The backing on this pad is very thin and bends very easy. The other 3M pads I own have a stiff backing. Summary: I purchased other 3M polishing pads - black and orange. In 3Ms defense, these other pads are excellent for compounding, polishing and smoothing out repair work. The Perfect-It pad was not even close to the quality of the other pads I purchased. I really dont need the Ultrafine pad and after working with it, I can say the orange and black 3M hookit pad do a better job. If you have not purchased and used 3M hookit pads before, you will probably be happy with this -- its as good as the other cheaper brands but I would not say it is better. If you are used to 3M quality found in some of their other polishing pads, you will probably be dissatisfied with this product. This is the first Perfect-it pad I bought and will be my last. This product should be priced somewhere in the $2 ~ $3 range since it is of the same quality as the no-name or off brand polishing pads.
