> 3 dayWhen we moved from our “mid-century modern” apartment, where we had lived for over 50 years, with its stainless steel kitchen countertops to a brand new retirement cottage, the granite countertops in the new kitchen were driving me crazy. I have always admired the maxim coined by the great architect Louis Sullivan and promoted by his protege Frank Lloyd Wright and others that form follows function. To me, granite countertops were an example rather of form follows fashion. Granite is very pretty, so if you plan to have an open kitchen and want your guests to admire its beauty, it may be a good choice. But if your goal is to have a kitchen best suited for actually preparing food, stainless steel seems to be a far better choice. Stainless steel is installed with upward curved edges so that liquids don’t run off the edges, and the area around the sink is slightly sloped so that those liquids run down into the drain. It is essentially impervious to anything you put on it, so without a yearly sealing, it will not be stained by fruit juices (or, as we discovered, by the dyes in dish-washing liquid that immediately stained the granite after it leaked from a container and sat unnoticed on the countertop for a week or so.) We could not replace the granite countertops, and we would be preparing our own meals because we did not (at our preference) have a “food plan” at this retirement community. So, to preserve my sanity, I went looking for a hack that would provide on top of the granite the kind of usable work area to which I was accustomed with stainless steel. After an extensive Web search, that revealed nothing designed for the purpose, this mat seemed like a good possibility. It would provide the raised edges to contain liquids during food prep. Its surface would withstand the heat from a saucepan taken from the stove or a glass cooking bowl from the microwave. It could be easily washed down, with the water running off the edge into the sink, and wiped dry. (I thought that I would need to trim the edge at the sink to let liquids run off, but it turned out that it could be easily bent down.) My wife was not enthusiastic about this latest crazy idea of mine. “You are going to put WHAT? A thing that was made to go UNDER a sink? On top of my beautiful countertop?” But she quickly became an admirer of it. As you can see in the accompanying photo, it looks quite attractive. The only concession that I needed to make was to agree that the mat would be used to prepare dinner and left in place overnight for breakfast prep, then removed so that it would not obscure the beautiful countertop during the day. (Our lunches require very little kitchen work.) And although the mat is of a generous size, it can easily be removed and stored for the day on top of the washing machine in the adjoining utility room.

> 3 dayThis is a good product. The shelf liner is not a trey -- Not ridged. It comes folded -- but dont let that scar you off. This sink mat works. It is a thick rubber like substance and is waterproof . Installation is easy . Most undercabinet areas this large will have to deal with hot and cold water piped coming through the floor of the cabinet. If that is your situation -- you can simply cut the mat to fit and seal with a silicone based caulk. Just take your time and carefully measure to get a great finished surface. This mat will also hide any imperfections in your cabinet floor .

> 3 dayLOVE IT! TOOK OPENING OF THE UNDER THE SINK CABINET AND LOOKING INTO IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL! :) I got it and installed it five minutes after it arrived. I dont have major leaks problems but now and then there were few and they caused some trouble when the disposer caused the dishwasher to back up or something like that... That puppy can hold two gallons of water!!! TWO whole gallons! Imagine.. t his is really enough to save most of the problems, and whatever is left that wont do much damage. I really truly wish I had it earlier as also some leaks and small drips cause always some erosion of the bottom of the cabinet while this baby will protect it beautifully. It looks amazing too and makes every opening of the cabinet a pleasure. It is flimsy when it arrives folded in half but dont be fulled, there is plenty of sturdiness in it to provide all the support you need. It is easy to instal, just take all out all the stuff you have in the cabinet, take it out and put inside the liner, then all back in. Easy to clean, just wipe. I bet it could go into the washer on low tumble and warm water but I never try but thats a t hough. So much fun and so beautiful!

> 3 dayAn absolute perfect fit! So easy to install too! We have a pipe under the kitchen sink that likes to leak occasionally. It just gets loose and if we tighten it too much it continues to leak. Since we had to deal with some mold abatement when we remodeled the kitchen due to a leaky dishwasher hose, we thought this would be the perfect thing to finally protect our cabinet. It is 100% perfect! Now that I see how well these fit I’ll be buying one for under our kitchen sink and two bathrooms at our rec property when we shut the house down for the winter, because frozen pipes are a lot less fun than leaky ones!

> 3 dayI received this under sink mat yesterday and immediately installed it under my kitchen sink where we had had a leak recipient. I found it to be exactly the size ordered which was a little smaller than I needed—I would have loved one that was 23 inches instead of 22 inches deep. Unfortunately I could not find one in that size with this design. I really wanted one that would hold a lot of water if needed and that had a lip on it (sides) to keep the water contained. It arrived folded in quarters essentially in a box. It is very flexible which made installation very easy. When laid flat under the sink, it became the flat tray with sides that I expected. The sides do have a little flexibility and I suspect they would bow out if filled with water if they were not close enough to the sides of the cabinet for them to offer additional support but I do still think it would hold approximately the amount of water listed. 2 gallons is more than any other mat I looked at promised. I am very pleased with this purchase other than the need for a 23 inch depth. This was the closest I could come to what I wanted. I would love to have identical mats for my bathroom sinks in 20 x 26 and 20 x 28 inch sizes so please buy this product so they will add additional sizes! :)
