This is an amazing deal for what is a really nice keyboard. Full disclosure, this is my first Mech keyboard. It feels really nice to type on and game on. Pros: I love how they give you 8 blue switches to swap out if you want. It also includes the keycap puller and the switch puller. Changing switches is a breeze. I changed out the WASD keys along with E and Q as I usually bind those two keys in most games. I have two left over. Ill likely change out R. I want to buy more of the blue switches as Ive found I really like the tactile bump and the audible click. Im happy they came with the option to change out the switches. It is a full RGB keyboard (If you use the software) and at this price point, that is a pretty amazing feature. There are a lot of options for customization. I do wish you could mix and match the presets. I like the presets that wave out or briefly light up the key you press. I wish I could have that and light up WASD full time. Ive found that I just leave it on a setting that slowly rolls through all the colors. Works for me. You can customize each key color. It took me forever to find out how to do this in the software. Its under the preset Costal. Ive found that sometimes the software will show a key as being lit up on that preset, but the actual key isnt lit up. Deselecting and reselecting the key fixes that. Slight annoyance. More on how frustrating the software is in the cons section. CONS: The software looks like it was written by a 13 year old. It reminds me of the old Red Alert game. It just has some weird, old 90s software vibe with it. The version on the disc is 1.00 so I dont know if an update is available for it. Which brings me to con 2 about the software. You only get a mini disc with the software on it. For those of us who opt not to have optical drives (seriously, who puts a CD drive in a PC anymore?), this is an annoyance. No worries, Redragon has software available on their site. Oh wait, the one for the K556 isnt what is advertised. Its literally a .PNG file. Thats it. No software to download from their website for the K556. Support is non existent. I filled out their form asking for a link to working software last week. Still not have heard back. Luckily I have a dinosaur laptop with a CD tray. I just popped in the disc and installed it to a thumb drive and used that to get it to my PC. Annoying for sure. Redragon, seriously, put the correct download for the K556 software and update it for crying out loud. Im not trying to infiltrate a base with Tanya using your software. Overall, the actual keyboard is a 5. The software and the experience getting it set up was a 3. If you want the full 16 million color range of true RGB, you need the software. I would highly recommend this keyboard. I now really want one for work so I can annoy everyone I work with with my clicky blue switches. Get this keyboard and forget the rest.

I love this keyboard! Being my first mechanical keyboard I couldn’t be happier, and for the price the quality is definitely there, it feels super premium and the lights that you can customize make it even better! Now my office has a really cool and modern touch to it.

When I was first introduced to the mechanical keyboard a couple of years ago, I was awestruck. Now, some people don’t particularly care for the clickety-clack that these type of keyboards bring, but I rather enjoy it. It reminds me of the same tactile sensation I get from an old typewriter or the old computers from a computer lab in my elementary school. Today, these mechanical keyboards are typically utilized by PC gamers or programmers. It’s a little rare to find someone who writes enjoying one — at least, you don’t hear about it often. But here we are and I am typing away on this lovely Redragon mechanical keyboard. Here are some of the finer points of the device. The Redragon K556 is made with custom Brown Switch mechanical keys and it is shipped with 8 Blue Switches to replace the keys if needed. Keyboard has a 50 million keystroke lifespan. The keyboard lights up in brilliant colors and there are customizable modes to it as well. To access them, you press Fn + Ins, Home, PgUp, Del, End, or PgDn. You can also adjust the brightness of the colors by pressing Fn + Up Arrow/Down Arrow. The backlighting has 16 million customizable color options. The keyboard weighs approximately 3.5 pounds. It’s not for the faint of heart and definitely not for remote working. It is constructed out of aluminum, plate-mounted mechanical keys, and gold plated USB connector. It’s hearty keyboard and meant to stand up to hardcore gaming. The keys are designed to have medium resistance, the lovely ‘click’ noise, and a noticeable tactile feedback. The switches have 60±15g actuation force. Keyboard has a 50 million keystroke life span. As I mentioned, I’m no gamer, but I do enjoy a well-built keyboard especially since I spend most of my day typing away at a keyboard. I also really like the colored keyboard. It makes the workspace seem that much more interesting. Since I’m working with the keyboard on a MacBook Pro, the customizable part of the colors is not useable, but I can still shift through the preprogrammed color options that are included with the K556. For the price, I would say that the Redragon K556 is more ‘premium’ than some of the pricier options in this peripheral category. I also like how it’s a full size keyboard, but doesn’t take up a lot of desk real estate. One of my other mechanical keyboards is full size, but isn’t as small. I rather like the compact nature of this keyboard and how well it fits with my current desk set-up. The keys are well spaced apart and they feel fluid the more I type with them. There are some mechanical keyboards that I feel like you really have to type hard to get a good rebound, but the keys on the Redragon are so responsive that I haven’t had any missed keystrokes or been disappointed with it at all. The Redragon K556 RGB LED Backlit Mechanical Keyboard is a really nice option for gamers and writers alike. I can recommend this as it’s a quality keyboard, but won’t break the bank.

We use these for gaming. Great mechanical feedback and excellent quality for the price! No problems with keys or need to replace any so far. This brand is a great value. There are audible clicks when you use this keyboard, so if that annoys you (or anyone around you) you may not want to not opt to buy any mechanical keyboard. That said, I don’t think it’s that loud and I actually enjoy hearing the clicky sounds as I type. I’d guess that these would make anyone a better typist (and maybe gamer!) My kids are now mechanical keyboard converts. After moving off of a mushy membrane keyboard, they can’t believe the difference. :)

I have owned, used, repaired, and maintained a lot of key boards in my life, from the early keyboards of the late 70s and 80s such as the Iconic IBM model M, one of my favorites the Northgate Omnikey Ultra Keyboard. So lets talk about this Redragon K556, I had a small liquid spill and I needed to service it, flush out all of the liquid and clean it up, what I found inside shocked me when it comes to a keyboard of this price range. This keyboard is built like a tank, its base is solid Aluminum with a strong plastic structure for the printed circuit board to mount too, the top of the keyboard again a solid piece of aluminum making for a nice weighty quality strong keyboard so I really wanted to get this keyboard back in service. During the repair of this keyboard I reached out to Redragon to request a schematic so I could service the column of lights that had been knocked from the spill. During my dialog with customer service I was told they were a Redragon authorized distributor and not the manufacturer so they were unable to supply me with a schematic, however they did send me a replacement keyboards and I am more then happy with their customer service. They went above and beyond what was required of them to satisfying their customer so my thanks to the Redragon Customer Service Team. Buy this keyboard with confidence it is solid as a rock inside and out and it has one of the best customer service teams standing behind it.

I love the keyboard. Nowhere in the description did it mention that the used condition would mean the key-puller and extra caps would be missing. A small detail, all things considered.

I started out with this keyboard back in 2019. It has a good blend of plastic and metallic to its build, so it is sturdy without being too heavy. Keys are decent, the sound was decent as well. Overall, not a bad board. I recently started getting into the world of custom mechanical keyboard so I wanted to upgrade and mod this keyboard to make it feel and sound better. It is not recommended to disassemble this keyboard if you dont know what youre doing but other than that this keyboard was a great board to mod and upgrade. I ended up: - Adding PE Foam to the bottom inside of the plastic case. - Adding Masking Tape to the bottom of the PCB. - Adding PE Foam between the PCB and the aluminum plate (as shown in the picture) - Clipping and Lubing the stock stabilizer with Krytox 205g0 - Hotswapping the stock Outemu Brown Switches out with Akko CS Matcha Green Switches (also lubed with Krytox 205g0) - Switching out the stock keycaps with HyperX Doubleshot Pudding Keycaps After hours of modding the keyboard to its fullest potential, I managed to make this keyboard feels even better and smoother and sounds thockier than it ever has before. Couple of bad things to note: - Redragon keyboards use an Outemu PCB, so only 3-pins Outemu or Akko CS switches or something similar will fit. - The stock switches are very cheap, so pulling them out will have a high chance of breaking the switch and its housing (so process at your own risk). - Has no Bluetooth nor does it have detachable USB cable.

Soon after posting my original review detailing my dead K556, a rep commented (see below) and emailed me. They offered a replacement, no questions asked. Im pleased to report that the entire process took just 6 days from the posting of my review to receiving a replacement keyboard. Redragon has a top notch customer service team and they stand behind their products. I felt compelled to update this review to 5 stars simply due to the responsiveness and professionalism of the Redragon team. Now, an honest review of the K556: 4 stars for the keyboard, 1 bonus star for customer service. Build quality is solid. Very solid. The K556 weighs easily double what the Corsair K70 Mk.2 weighs. It is inflexible and looks perfectly at home in front of and surrounded by higher end components. Cherry MX Brown equivalent switches. Here is where we run into a subtle snag. Both the original keyboard and the replacement have a metallic, tonal ring to each keystroke. They are substantially louder than genuine Cherry MX Browns, and require just slightly more force. That said, the K556 is comfortable to type on and responsive enough for a great gaming experience. These slight issues will bother some more than others. The software, it isnt fantastic. It is janky and in need of an update. It does, however, get the job done, it could just do with a bit more polish. Furthermore, it is necessary to use in order to stop the severe lag that occurs without the software installed. The lighting is not as advanced as one might find elsewhere, but is decently customizable and comes with some simple themes to scratch the RGB itch with which some users may suffer. Even without the outstanding customer service, this keyboard is a great buy for the budget minded gamer or typist. The small quibbles Ive identified are overshadowed by the price and the dedication that Redragon has to their customers and their products. To have a significant increase in quality and experience one has to pay $120 or more. Yes, double or higher the cost of the K556. Typing and gaming from experience, paying double the cost does not result in double the quality. Original Review: It is now April 10, 2019, I purchased this keyboard on April 30, 2018. I just had one hell of a time signing into windows because no keys would work, only the pretty lighting. Three attempts at trying different usb ports, and finally leaving the keyboard unplugged for about one minute, and I was able to log in. I then immediately went to my browser to look for a new keyboard and was met simply with 222222222222222222222222222222222222222222. Several more unplugs and I am able to type this review and have a Corsair K70 on the way. Had I purchased that in the first place instead of going cheap, I ultimately would have saved 60 bucks. For about one year, this keyboard was okay. Thankfully, Amazon has one day shipping.

    Greater than one week

Arrived fast-packaged fine. I wanted a back lit keyboard for general typing and computer work. Had old basic keyboard for 12 years and wanted something new. I am a 65 year old female and just needed something that was easy to use and works good. I am not a gamer-So much to choose from-reviews where half good-half bad on all keyboards. Even expensive keyboards had bad reviews. Seems the better keyboards are gaming, mechanical and depend on type of key color so thought I would give this one a try. This is a very small keyboard and my hands feel cramped when typing. Although maybe it is because this is a benefit for gamers. Would have liked larger keys but this is a learning experience about keyboards. Mechanical keyboard with brown keys. Makes clicky sound when typing but this does not bother me. USB which is great-plugged in fine worked perfect. What I do not like is the instruction booklet-is not helpful and sort of confusing for how to set color of back light. I had to go to internet and watch videos on how to change and set color on keyboard. That was more helpful and then was able to understand instruction booklet better. Gave it a 4 Star because of instruction booklet. Does have nice colors and bright. Not sure about the wave of in and out of colors changing-hard on my eyes but maybe a gamer thing. I picked Red backlight and keep it set not to change. Just had to play with settings to understand how they work. Gave 4 star for instructions booklet. Will keep keyboard.

If you want to get into a mechanical on the discount, this could be a good choice. Knock off cherry MX brown hall effect switches. Lots of LED, not full array-full zone, but ok. The unit performs well and is largely quiet except for the over travel by the switches. If you want a mechanical for work or games, you could do far worse
