This is an amazing deal for what is a really nice keyboard. Full disclosure, this is my first Mech keyboard. It feels really nice to type on and game on. Pros: I love how they give you 8 blue switches to swap out if you want. It also includes the keycap puller and the switch puller. Changing switches is a breeze. I changed out the WASD keys along with E and Q as I usually bind those two keys in most games. I have two left over. Ill likely change out R. I want to buy more of the blue switches as Ive found I really like the tactile bump and the audible click. Im happy they came with the option to change out the switches. It is a full RGB keyboard (If you use the software) and at this price point, that is a pretty amazing feature. There are a lot of options for customization. I do wish you could mix and match the presets. I like the presets that wave out or briefly light up the key you press. I wish I could have that and light up WASD full time. Ive found that I just leave it on a setting that slowly rolls through all the colors. Works for me. You can customize each key color. It took me forever to find out how to do this in the software. Its under the preset Costal. Ive found that sometimes the software will show a key as being lit up on that preset, but the actual key isnt lit up. Deselecting and reselecting the key fixes that. Slight annoyance. More on how frustrating the software is in the cons section. CONS: The software looks like it was written by a 13 year old. It reminds me of the old Red Alert game. It just has some weird, old 90s software vibe with it. The version on the disc is 1.00 so I dont know if an update is available for it. Which brings me to con 2 about the software. You only get a mini disc with the software on it. For those of us who opt not to have optical drives (seriously, who puts a CD drive in a PC anymore?), this is an annoyance. No worries, Redragon has software available on their site. Oh wait, the one for the K556 isnt what is advertised. Its literally a .PNG file. Thats it. No software to download from their website for the K556. Support is non existent. I filled out their form asking for a link to working software last week. Still not have heard back. Luckily I have a dinosaur laptop with a CD tray. I just popped in the disc and installed it to a thumb drive and used that to get it to my PC. Annoying for sure. Redragon, seriously, put the correct download for the K556 software and update it for crying out loud. Im not trying to infiltrate a base with Tanya using your software. Overall, the actual keyboard is a 5. The software and the experience getting it set up was a 3. If you want the full 16 million color range of true RGB, you need the software. I would highly recommend this keyboard. I now really want one for work so I can annoy everyone I work with with my clicky blue switches. Get this keyboard and forget the rest.

This thing is awesome.. Not using for gaming (coding) and it is pretty cool. Was looking for that mechanical clicking noise and this is it. Also has some weight to it and feels like an extremely solid aluminum base. Find myself looking for reasons to type now... like this review. So much clicky!!!

After having gone through a few ultra cheap mechanical keyboards I can definitively vouch for this keyboard as very much worth the step up to lower mid-rage. It is thee one to get. It hits everything I want. Obviously price is reasonable for the average person. The look is crisp, clean, and neat. I cannot stand gaudy PC peripherals so it was nice to get something so solid and clean. Even the logo is minimalist and not obnoxious. It has some decent heft to it. The base is heavy and not going to move on you. Easily the heaviest keyboard I have owned. It has backlighting that can be controlled with variety and can even be turned off completely. And it has the choice between brown and red switches. I went with brown as I like the tactile feedback but was going deaf from ultra cheap blue switches I had on previous keyboards. They are lovely. Ive had mine over a year now and it still works. But. I did lose some response accuracy in a couple switches over the year. These are cheaper switches and I guess you do get a little of what you pay for. Left CTRL was the first to go and I chalked that up to the angle of my pinky pressing it. I thought perhaps it was getting too much horizontal lateral pressure being pushed away from the keyboard to the left rather than a precision up and down strike. I replaced the switch with one of the extras. The keyboard comes with a keycap removal tool, a switch extraction tool, as well as a row of sample/extra switches. These include two blue, two brown, two red, and two black. Havent had an issue with the Left CTRL since. Unfortunately my C switch ended up with the same issue months later. Which killed the lateral contact theory. Another quick replacement and Ive been good to go. I am just all but certain another key/switch will peter out eventually. End of the day it has been a wonderful daily driver of a keyboard for over a year now. I type an above average amount daily during the week and game with it on the weekends. Ive put in some good miles on it and having to replace two switches on it doesnt sour my opinion at all. If I had paid hundreds for it, I might be upset. But I paid a reasonable price and got a more than reasonable keyboard. I would happily buy this fella again.

Its been just a good keyboard. Its also unexpectedly heavy, so be ready for that. Also get a wrist pad if you dont float your wrists when typing. The software is primitive and the RGB spectrum isnt great. The color you select on screen often doesnt match what shows up on the keyboard unless you are close to a standard color, example, white is light purple, and the lighter you go on any color slowly turns into light purple. Has a twang that sounds like a spring being flicked in a metal box if you press the keys with normal typing force, so I constantly hear it. I hear people say its because the switches are seated in a metal frame, but I understand a common theme among higher quality mechanical keyboards is they are mostly metal, so Ill chalk this experience up to low build quality. Would be interesting to hear the switches in a plastic frame. They are also starting to develop a slight squeak. I havent tried lubing or isolation rings so not sure if that would help. I dont think the actuation force feels uniform across all keys. These brown switches have a barely noticeable ridge when pressed, my opinion is that they are just alright in terms of mechanical feel. It comes with other samples of switches, the blacks take more force but dont have a noticeable ridge when pressed, the reds just feel light and mushy, and the blue have a nice click that sounds similar to a mouse click but add in the twang and squeak issue I mentioned earlier and I dont think I could handle that... The caps lock indicator light will sometimes switch indication. Meaning when you press the caps lock key and the light turns on, youll be typing lowercase. It switches back on its own. I have no idea whats going on with that. This is my first mechanical keyboard, so I didnt want to spend a lot. You get what you pay for so thats why I rated 4 stars instead of 3, because a lot of this doesnt necessarily mean the keyboard is junky it just means it was constructed as a cheap mechanical keyboard. I went from low profile membrane to this and it definitely required a learning curve, but regardless of all of this I dont think Ill go back to membrane. In the future Ill just get something higher quality that has switches with more actuation force, less travel, and an ever so slight click if something like that exists.

I have been eyeing this keyboard for a while now. I finally got it while it was around $40 during the Prime sale. I have only been using membrane keyboard and this feels, somewhat underwhelming when I first get it. I was expecting a bit more resistance but this keyboard is made to be very light and very light click. However, after using it for a while I know that I wont be able to go back to using membrane keyboard. The light pattern that came with this keyboard is quite useless. Its pretty. I especially interested in using the ripple effect one. However, when I selected it, every key is dark until I press them. Needless to say I cant use it. I ended up using the default one it came with and be happy with it. I flows RGB slowly and makes the keyboard look pretty. I like the sturdiness and weight. I think the base is made out off metal. Overall, I grew to like it. Lets hope they keys last for a very long time.

It is the best keyboard Ive ever had. Love the clickiness and love the colored lights. The price was great too. I consider this a win win for me. My first mechanical keyboard, dont think Ill ever go back to the old cheap ones I used to buy.

I picked this keyboard based on the reviews amazing quality for the price. Aluminum base with semi clicky mechanical keys. I got the brown keys version really good compromise for gaming and general use IMO. Going to keep an eye on this brand.

It arrived without a shipping box and the label stuck right on the product box so I was a little apprehensive, but fortunately it wasnt raining or anything, and so far so good. I believe I got a returned product though, as Ive found a couple tiiiny white hairs maybe from a cat or something. But I think thats more Amazons fault. Ive had a passing interest in mechanical keyboards for a while but I could never justify the cost. However, this past Christmas my sister got me some custom keycaps and I discovered that they would only fit on Cherry switches, so it was finally time for me to trade in my crappy $10 keyboard and get something nice! I also wanted something with lights, since Ive never had that before either, and on that front this keyboard absolutely does not disappoint. It has a bunch of modes including some responsive ones that are really cool. I assume the software would make it more customizable but one of the reasons I picked this keyboard over others was that it didnt require software as I play a lot of games and dont want any extra background processes. You can also adjust the brightness of the lights, from completely off to ahh my eyes! lol As for the keyboard itself, I went with brown switches as I knew I wanted something that felt a little more responsive than red and Im pretty happy with my choice. It does make a bit of noise, but thats to be expected with the switch type and the fact that its made of metal. Noise doesnt really bother me. Now, I am a newbie when it comes to mechanical keyboards, but from what I have been able to google up, it seems the stabilizers on this one are a little squishier than Id like. However, apparently that is also to be expected with Cherry stabilizers. I have swapped out the switches on the space bar and delete key to blue and that feels a little better. Thats another thing I really like - the fact that it comes with 6 extra switches of various colors so you can try out different ones or mix and match a little bit. Hopefully the other keys that are a bit squishy-feeling will even out as I use them or Ill get used to them. As for now, it works just fine. All in all, Id say this keyboard is perfect for someone who is new to mechanical keyboards or isnt overly picky and just wants a mechanical keyboard that works, especially since its such a good price. Youd be hard-pressed to find better for less. But if youre a mechanical keyboard enthusiast who is very particular about sound and feel, this might require a bit of modding for you to be 100% happy with it. On the flip side, if you just want something super quiet and dont care about lights or fancy things, this is probably not for you.

If you want to get into a mechanical on the discount, this could be a good choice. Knock off cherry MX brown hall effect switches. Lots of LED, not full array-full zone, but ok. The unit performs well and is largely quiet except for the over travel by the switches. If you want a mechanical for work or games, you could do far worse
