Purchased Yinsh because of the great reviews and it did not disappoint! Also my 11 year old granddaughter beat me the first 3 out of 4 games! It is quick to learn the rules but not so easy to win!

Wonderful abstract game! If you thought checkers was fun as a kid, but now is boring and chess is intriguing but isnt worth the lifestyle commitment to get good, Yinsh is for you. This has enough twists and changes in fate and things to pay attention to that the game remains very interesting. The rivalry with my wife has gotten pretty humorous and intense. As a side note, the box for this game is way bigger than it needs to be. If you want to conserve space and dont care about the box, you can get by without it since theres a bag for all the pieces other than the board.

Quick pick up and good pace. Everyone Ive introduced it to really likes it. A lot of interesting characteristics for a simple abstract. Its difficult to perfect. You sacrifice to compete and surprised by outcomes. There is somewhat of a handicap as the player in the lead loses a piece. Sometimes youll sit out a score to leverage a block. You can definitely get better at it despite feeling somewhat chaotic on the first couple plays. Only issue is minor wrinkling on the board edge which gives an unsightly spot where it looks like its peeling some but very small and not enough to complain over.

Im a fan of Go, so this seemed like a great game to try it. It totally is! There is a lot of reply value, and I still dont understand the best strategy. This is complex enough to make you think, but quick enough to play w/someone new and not thoroughly bore them w/hard thinking involved in Go.

By far the most played game that we have. We have over 60 board games and this one has been the one played the most. We like to play it on teams of 2v2 just like Sequence. Epic game!

Fun and challenging at the same time. As you approach the winning condition, your board position gets weaker. Great mechanism. Really makes you think har as you get closer to the winning condition. Have played over 200+ abstract games. This is in the top 5.

My wife and I love Yinsh, as its easy to learn, but hard to master. Cliché? Well, maybe, but its true. Each player, black and white, has a set of rings and places a token in their ring on their turn, then moves the ring. Once a player gets five of their color tokens in a row, the row is removed, along with one of that players rings. The first player to remove three rings of their own color wins. Of course, the more of your rings you remove, the harder it gets to make five in a row. The game starts out simply, but soon becomes very complex, especially after removing one or two rings. It requires some real strategic thinking. Anyway, its simple to learn, and only takes thirty minutes or so. Yinch is a lot of fun, and can fit into our busy schedule. Give it a try, if you like quick abstract games, this is a good one.

Love this game! I’m always looking for innovative and interesting two-player games. Yinsh keeps you involved and thinking since the board is constantly changing. This game is so great! I highly recommend.

I am only in the last three months getting into some of the newer Euro games. In our house, we have Dominion and Carcassone: Hunters and Gatherers and I have played Ticket to Ride a number of times at the local game store on board game night. It seemed like a good idea to branch out a bit, and I had heard about the Gipf project on that game geek website. So, I took a chance and bought it. Yes, you can play it online, but it is definitely more fun to play it live with another human. The game is an abstract strategy game like Chess or Go. Since I have never played any Gipf games before the game seemed odd at the start, but took only about 15 minutes to Grok the rules. The game plays quickly -- usually a single game lasts less than twenty minutes; so, in that sense, the game is more fun, at least in my opinion that Chess or Go. However, how one develops a strategy for this game is still a mystery to me. Because the markers get flipped or change colors every time a player jumps over them with a ring, it is very difficult to anticipate the future. Overall, I find the game to be fun and fast paced. It makes for a very nice two-player game. Bought this at a local game store -- trying to support small businesses and the local economy -- although I paid full retail plus sales tax that I would not have paid if I had bought the game from amazon.

You know. . . I wasnt sure I would like it. The reviews convinced me to make the plunge. It was easy to learn and challenging to master. Great game.

Sometimes you will have the impression that there is nothing but chaos on the board. You line up a few of your pieces and the next thing you notice is that they have changed color! The more pieces on the board, the more difficult it becomes to predict what will happen. But also the more opportunities you have! So do not worry: you will get your chance. Just stay alert, and you will create your own little bit of order in the chaos!
