I am going to use this in my bedroom desk with my laptop dock and Steam Deck. I love a mechanical keyboard and this Royalaxe X looks great. It is important to note that this is a compact product where the function keys and number keys double together. For programming, I can adapt without issue. But for gaming, your mileage may vary. The many methods of connection are a strong selling point. In particular, this is a Bluetooth keyboard. I tested connect to my Android tablet and my steam deck... works great. Ive also tested it with the wifi dongle and a direct USB connection. All work as designed and needed. Connectivity aside, this is a very well built product. The keys are just the right clickiness and the board is sturdy with some weight. The RGB lighting is helpful in lower light use, and also gives visual feedback. I really think this will be good for me to use when traveling with laptops, as I find coding on even larger laptops to be a hunched over affair. It is very compact, so fits nicely in my laptop case as an accessory. It is a solid product that I think would fit the need for a travel keyboard better than most. For coding, it gives me all the feedback I have come to love. The lack of dedicated function keys should be considered by the prospective buyer, but I found the use of the board to be just what I wanted.

I am writing this review with this keyboard specifically. Things of note - The backspace key is 1U. This took me surprisingly little time to get used to. I think it helps that the controls for the keyboard are next to it so that even if you miss the key, you wont accidentally hit something else. They could have squeezed another U in there if they had made the controls smaller. There is no adjustment for tilt, it is pretty aggressive out of the box, but I find that this is very comfortable to type on. Ive been using this keyboard for work for the past two days and have had no issues. Bluetooth, 2.4Ghz, and wired connectivity work just as you expect them to work. NKRO in wired and wireless modes. North facing LEDs Some XDA like profile, very easy to type on. Double-shot keycaps. These are Gateron yellow switches, but they have been pre lubed. The stabs have been lubed as well. This is the nicest sounding sub 70 dollar keyboard I have used in a long time. The case is plastic, but it is a thicc plastic. Has a good thocc. They include a plastic keyboard cover, which I think was more for shipping than for use afterwards, but it works when you want to have a snack at the desk without worrying about crumbs. Also included is a purple color matching USB C cable. I wish it had a better battery indicator. With my machine (Windows 11) it seems to report battery levels, but they are a bit erratic when lower than 10%. The only physical level indicator on the keyboard itself is a low battery indicator on the keyboard. The rotating selector switch is nice, but it is a bit crunchy. It almost has extra detents that are close to the selections that you would make. I found that if you are close to your selection, it still works. There is a small slot on the keyboard for storing the 2.4Ghz dongle, which I LOVE. The software for this machine, which can be found on the mfg website, has all of the features I would want. You can adjust the 2.4 and BT sleep settings independently from each other (LED sleep, and keyboard sleep) You can be more specific on the LED colors within the software as well. It does request a firewall exception, however I have not looked into it. It does offer update capabilities for keyboard firmware and software (neither available at the time of this review) Most keyboard that I get that are sub 80 dollars usually make me want to open them up within a few hours of receiving them to mod and tinker. I havent gotten the urge to open this one at all. If there were a better device level battery indicator, a bit more room for adjustment for tilt, and better windows reporting of battery, I would give 5 stars.

I absolutely love this keyboard. Its got matte like finishing. The keys are soft and have a perfect sound. Low pitch key hits. The keys are customizable online with the software including lighting colors. It can be wired or wireless. I cant wait to change out the key caps down the line!

A surprising amount of weight to this keyboard considering the compact nature of it. My first time using gateron yellow switches and I am thoroughly enjoying them. Very quiet and a nice smooth action. They include four extra switches in the box which is a nice bonus. They also include the tools to remove keys and switches which, again, is a nice bonus. A rotary switch which allows you to change modes. Those modes being wired, BT 5.0 and 2.4Ghz. Ive tested each and they all seem to work just fine. This nifty switch does not come without its drawbacks as it seems to be the reason for a single key backspace. It doesnt actually seem to be an issue for me as I originally thought it may be, though, as my typing seems to align well with the size and position of the key but I can see that being a problem for a lot of people. RGB lighting. All sorts of lighting effects and colors. Its not really my thing and I just keep it on a single color but going through them all just to test what they do and how well they work, everything seems good. An angle which cannot be adjusted, which I would consider a not-quite-major con, but the angle seems fine for me. All of this being an initial impression, I will continue using this as my daily driver for the next several months and I will come back to update this review if any problems arise or if I find anything I consider worth mentioning.

There’s a numpad, keys sound amazing, can change inputs easily, can connect 3 Bluetooth on top of wired and dongle connect and it’s really cute!! The software looks sketchy, but its legit and works. So glad I got this to go with my build

I bought different mechanical keyboards in the past. I have a Das, Drevo, 2 MelGeeks, all cherry browns, but I was unsatisfied. I was looking for something like this. So i do like yellow switches and this is my first one. its thocky but not too much, it looks awesome, it has all the keys i need, and its programmable. im not a gamer, i use this for teleworking and its perfect! cant wait to buy some cute novelty keycaps! lol

This keyboard was snapped up because it reminiscent of the old Commodore keyboard. And it feels like the old Mac keyboards from back in the day. It has a light pressure touch but with significant pressure behind it. I am working with my iMac - so Im used to a compact keyboard without the numbers on the right. I had issues with connectivity via bluetooth with my Mac. I had to connect via the 2.4ghz and key and take up a USB spot in my hub, which was frustrating. I will try again after doing a bit of research. I do like the design and I like typing on it, only dropping it a star because of the bluetooth.

Im enjoying this keyboard, its only my second mechanical next to the Nuphy Air 75. I will use the Royal Axe for my MacBook Air when traveling. I also wanted to have a numeric keypad. Im not a gamer, more of a writer, so I wasnt concerned about size, even though it is bigger than the Nuphy. As mentioned, Im new to the keyboard scene so dont have much to go off of. I did need a wrist riser for more comfort as shown in pics. As a writer/designer, the look and color immediately helped my decision. I also saw other reviews online as well as got myself familiar with the switches it comes with. Its hefty which I like, not cheap. I wont do any mods to this unit, from my understanding it comes preluded. Keys do need a tad more force compared to my Nuphy, but thats ok. The price isnt outrageous, but I did have to add a wrist rest. Overall, Im very pleased with the look, feel, performance, connectivity, design, and function. I gave 4 stars on the GAMING, I really dont know so I wanted to keep it neutral.
