Safety 1st Small Object Choking Tester

Great to use to test what is considered a choking hazard for babies and small children.

Things a lot smaller than expected stick out of this (per instructions). It must be right...but its difficult to believe. We still tossed the smallest things that passed but were able to save several things that would have failed the toilet paper tube test.

I make twiddlemuffs for people with dementia: a double layer knitted tube embellished with objects that can be fiddled with. Having heard from a dementia nurse about a patient who chewed buttons off clothing I decided to use the same safety standard as I would for a child under 3. This little device takes the guesswork out. Meant I had to stop using buttons and beads but thats just made the project a bit more mindful.

I use this to test toys that I put out for my Learn and Play group (ages newborn through 5 yrs).

Simple tool, might not be necessary for most but it is helpful when in doubt. We used this at a daycare center just to be sure.

Wouldnt a piece of PVC pipe with the same 1 1/4 dimensions work just the same?

Highly recommend. It is sometimes a surprise what fits in the tube and could be a choking hazard for little ones. Safety items are always a good baby gift.

Loved the idea but realized common sense would work better than using this product. Waste of money. Just compare everything to a golf ball.

I chose it because it may prevent my grandson,s from experiencing a choking situation which in turn will prevent me from having a grammy meltdown.
