The package came early this evening and within 20 minutes after downloading and installing Samsung Magician s/w, my pc was open, the drive was placed in the carriage I also purchased, turned the pc back on and started the Samsung Magician. An hour later, my 1 TB mechanical Seagate hard drive was cloned to my new SSDD. After shutting down and disconnecting my Seagate drive, the PC booted significantly faster.

Opted for the newer M.2 technology and returned this item.

I bought this to replace a HDD on my old (6 years old) desktop. The cloning process was easy and went smoothly, and took about 3 and 1/2 hours. I had read multiple reviews stating issues with the process stopping at 99%, etc.. I did not have any issues. I did do a checkdisk prior to cloning, closed all programs/cloud storage, disabled the anti virus, and put my pc in airplane mode. The most difficult step for me was to find a tray to install the new, much smaller SSD, in the HDD slot. The old HDD screwed in from the top, and did not slide in/out from the front of the pc. I finally found this: Corsair Dual SSD Mounting Bracket 3.5 CSSD-BRKT2, Black, which fit perfectly, and has 2 slots, so I could eventually add another SSD, if I need to. Booting up the old pc with the new SSD also went without a hitch! SO MUCH FASTER!!! The only down side, is it could not clone the drive D recovery partition. It has been in my pc for over 1 week, and works perfectly.

Samsung SSDs are my go-to for adding faster storage for Raspberry Pi 4B nodes. Less expensive than their Pro (red tab) cousins, they still offer excellent performance and endurance when connected via USB 3.0 to the Pi 4B.

The Samsung 870 EVO replaced an existing SATA hard drive in a laptop. The system booted much fast and the overall performance of the laptop increased by a factor of10 plus. High recommended.
