For anyone considering this for a PS5, Id highly recommend buying it with a heat sink. Sure, it is more expensive but in the long run with the PS5, it is better to go with the heatsink because, as far as I know of, the bay where you put it in, does not have airflow so temps are a concern.

This is a nice middle ground between the more expensive 990 pro and the slower 970. With twice the read/write speeds of the 970 and being half the cost of the 990 while only being about 90% of the speed is great value. Im going to be using this until PCIE 5 ssds come out and become cheaper.

I started doing video editing and needed more storage on my Lenovo Yoga 6 so I bought this 2TB drive. 256GB just wasnt cutting it now. I also bought the SSK Aluminum M.2 NVME SATA SSD Enclosure Adapter.

No complaints here. Have purchased multiple 2TB 980 Pros for my PC and PS5. Zero issues whatsoever with either setup!

The card made my load time go from 30 minutes to 6 minutes, and I got it the next day with free shipping, very easy to install just doesnt come with a t2 screw

Do yourself a favor and download the Samsung Magician software first thing and ensure the firmware is up to date before using it. I lost quite a few large files due to unreadable sectors and CRC errors. I ran a full diagnostic scan in Magician and it identified many bad LBAs, took upwards of 10-11 hours to finish when it should only take 3-4. So I updated the firmware and then low level erased every mapped address space block using gparted live, then reinstalled Windows and files from backup. Kind of disappointing given the price paid when I bought it, but hopefully the latest firmware will be more reliable. After all that, at least Magician doesnt show any bad LBAs anymore for the time being.

The PS5 has a less than adequate storage capacity for the modern gaming age. Considering that the average game size is between 50-100gb, and there are some even more massive (call of duty >200gb’s) expanding the storage was absolutely necessary.

Took 5-10 mins to install. PS5 read it at 6,250 was faster than Sony recommend.

I really liked how simple the whole process ended being. I would recommend to a friend. If I have any issues with this product, then Ill come back on here and update my review

Ive been using a 250 GB 970 EVO for a few years now as my Windows disk and to house some smaller games. Performance had been magnificent so when I decided to replace an aging HDD for my large games I decided to stick with Samsung and went with this 980 PRO.
