I bought this drive to install in my PS5 as I was out of space. It was very easy to install. Just lookup a video online on how to do it if youre unsure. It works perfectly for storing games on.

This is my second 980. I have one from about launch time in my wife’s Ryzen-based laptop and this one, installed around 12/14/2022 in a Core i5 13600 system. They generally run around 6.9 gigs a second read and 5.4 gigs per second write, which is plenty fast for whatever you’d throw at it.

In total, I have three of these now. Two are in Z690 motherboards (one with an i7-13600K and another with an i5-12600K) and the other is in a Z390 (i5-9600K). For the i7 machine, the SSD is in the M.2 slot connected to the CPU directly and for the i5, its connected via the chipset. After running Crystal Disk Mark a couple of times there is no performance difference (indiscernible or otherwise) between the drive connected to the CPU directly (with the i7) and the drive connected to the chipset (with the i5). Both get close to 7GB/sec read times. Write times are about 4.5GB/sec, which is way faster than anything I need. Even though Im not totally blown away by their performance, theyre still very good SSDs.

Clone of my old drive took a over an hors, but only because it was over a slow USB port. My 8th Gen Core-I7 machine used to take 45-60 seconds to boot. I now have a login screen in under 10 seconds from a cold boot.

It was pretty easy to install, make sure you dont peel off the back sticker, its a heat spreading Label. Just Be Careful as it does not come with the screw to keep it in place, you should have one in your motherboards box though. It Also GREATLY increased load times for games, what took 10-20 secs to load now seems to happen instantly. Also you should try to get their Samsung Magician Software.

This is a nice middle ground between the more expensive 990 pro and the slower 970. With twice the read/write speeds of the 970 and being half the cost of the 990 while only being about 90% of the speed is great value. Im going to be using this until PCIE 5 ssds come out and become cheaper.

Its a 1tb SSD. Not much else to say. I knew it was going to be great and not have any problems. Thats why I bought it.
