Once installed and downloaded the samsung software works fantastic. A problem I had installing the ssd was no screw to hold the ssd because Samsung did not include screw. The solution was a video on youtube that said motherboards have the m2 screw built in so me and my brother unscrewed the screw and used that for the Samsung 980. No need to buy a spare screw if your motherboard has the screw located by the m.2 slot.

Although not yet certified by Synology, I decided to get the latest model, and give them a try. Works great - much snappier performance compared to running without cache.
