> 24 hourBasically its essentislly pumice stone that is cleaned. It doesnt fall apart. I recommend seeding it with nitrifying and or denitrifying bacteria if you are wanting this to work sooner. Btw not being able to see pores with the naked eye does not mean its not porous. Bacteria are tiny and the holes for them to live in are tiny as well

> 24 hourthe 1L bottle was the perfect amount to fill up two baskets in my fluval 307. never have problems with amonia or nitrites in my tank so matrix gives ample area for beneficial bacteria

> 24 hourThey use to be all the same size and all porous , now they mixed them with non-porous rock , even with shiny rocks just to add weight to the bottle wth?.

> 24 hourThis product is well known for being excellent at providing a place for beneficial bacteria to grow and flourish. It is not overly expensive so I got some and added it to one tray in my cannister filter. It, along with a tray that has a bioball/ceramic ring combo makes up the bulk of my biological filtration with a large coarse sponge pre-filter helping also. This should be more than enough to handle my 75 gallon tank. I also have some sponge media for mechanical filtration but I like to rinse these with tap water so that the bacteria multiplies where I want it and not on the sponge that will eventually get replaced. The only issues I have are 1. There is at least half of this that is very dense like a rock. It is not all porous. That is not a deal breaker because I want bacteria growing in different ways and hopefully I will attract different types. 2. This really does need a bag to hold it. It will work in the cannister but the smaller pieces move and get wedged under the tray handles preventing it all from stacking correctly. I fit this into two media bags and this just makes it easier to clean but you will need to purchase a bag. Overall, based on reputation alone this is worth having in a tray. There is enough porous rock to justify the cost and now I have a nice diverse set of media in my filter working 24 hours a day.

> 24 hourI purchased these in hopes of helping reduce my high tap water nitrate problem for my 75G. I used it for a good while but found that Id need more then I had space for. In order for it to properly remove nitrates. It ended up just being a good place for bacteria to live but not much more. This stuff has an expiration date becuase after awhile the pores that are supposed to help in the stone become clogged. Once they become clogged its not as efficient as it should be. Overall, Id recommend these to help lower nitrates but only if you have alot of it.

> 24 hourI have an adult RES male who if Im being honest didnt have a proper setup for a VERY long time. Ive been chipping away at investing in a better remainder of his life for him and this was a very nice thing to have! Ive been using it for about a year now and its really helped grow the bacteria needed to keep his water level stable and healthy. I havent needed to use much of it either, although I will probably be adding more soon!

> 24 hourIts pumice stones but clean and works as well as other bio media. Would advise to rinse out the media once a month and replace one half each six months.

> 24 hourI bought this when I got my Eheim canister filter. The 1 liter bottle is the exact amount that I needed. Before I started using this stuff, I had minor issues with ammonia build up even with the bio sponges. Two weeks after I had this in my system, my ammonia and nitrites are at 0ppm and my plants pull out the rest of the nitrates with no problems. This stuff doesnt need to be replaced ever, so one bottle is all you need. Because this stuff holds onto all the good bacteria, you can feel free to replace all the other filter pads and such in your system without feeling guilty. Great stuff.

> 24 hourI have a new 55 gallon tank about 2 months old, I seeded it with old gravel in panty hose and I squeezed the brown muck into my tank, needless to say I am neurotic and I cant leave my tank alone. I change the water pretty much every other day. My ammonia and nitrite levels have been fluctuating. As soon as they were both 0 I changed the canister water and rinsed the poly pad in aquarium water. I vacuumed the gravel all in the same day and now im having a mini-cycle. I was then told the polypad would fall apart eventually and all I needed in my high powered canister filter was biofilter ceramic media. I have been slowly trying to get to only that but with 2 goldies , I dont want them suffering any ammonia spikes so I keep adding expensive tricks like API-absorb and it works for a day and sometimes up to 5 but not after that. This arrived this evening, I put it in an hour ago went to dinner and everything is at 0! Mind you an hour ago my ammonia was.5 my nitrites were .25.My water was cloudy and it is crystal clear
