> 3 dayA lot more in the container than expected! I got 2 for my three canister filters. A bit more than a 1.25 of a litre. It is natural rock so there was a few rocks that I not look like they had pours in the rock so decided to toss them out. Just the lid’s worth of cast off. Surprised that their quality control is so lax that that many black rocks would get through in a white product. Since I am replacing bio media already in an established tank I’m doing it 1/4 at a time. So every week and a half I am doing doing another 1/4th so that the existing bio media is not wiped out in a huge swap.

> 3 dayThis is in fact large enough to not need a media bag when used in a canister filter. With that being said I think it would be better to use a media bag to make it easier to take it out to lightly rinse if it gets too dirty, also will make it easier to reposition. This is a very good product, the bacteria grows rapidly on it and it is the only thing I use on my 120 gallon as far as bio media. I use 1 and a half times the amount suggested and all my parameters are perfect. I also use Purigen to remove organics from the water along with my protein skimmer. I also would recommend that when you put Matrix in you should pour some bio boosting bacteria on it to help kick start the growing process.

> 3 dayI bought this when I got my Eheim canister filter. The 1 liter bottle is the exact amount that I needed. Before I started using this stuff, I had minor issues with ammonia build up even with the bio sponges. Two weeks after I had this in my system, my ammonia and nitrites are at 0ppm and my plants pull out the rest of the nitrates with no problems. This stuff doesnt need to be replaced ever, so one bottle is all you need. Because this stuff holds onto all the good bacteria, you can feel free to replace all the other filter pads and such in your system without feeling guilty. Great stuff.

> 3 dayIt says you need 1liter for 100 gallons...so I put 1.5 in my 46 gallon! I have never shown ammonia or nitrite since the week I started my aquarium, and even then using this stuff in conjunction with their Stability rapidly established my media and has been running tip top ever since. I constantly clean the outside of the media in my change bucket to keep algae off the bag and I have yet to have a mini-cycle, which shows just how deep in the rocks these bacteria are. Only bio-media I will ever buy for my aquariums, period.

> 3 dayThe bio media was a good size. I did not need break it into any smaller pieces. I recommend rinsing before placing into aquarium, it can make water little cloudy without rinsing.

> 3 dayI have used this for a while and it works as advertised. My goal was to get my aquariums to be as low maintenance as possible. So i did tons of research and found that bio-media is the most effective way to keep aquarium water at the right parameters. I now use this, purigen and filter floss and my water is not only crystal clear, but also perfect paramaters. My ph is always around 7-7.5 0 nitrates and nitrates and 0 ammonia! I do add water when the tank gets slightly lower and do a 25% water change every couple months! I couldnt ask for a better, low maintenance aquarium! I use this on a 29 gallon angelfish tank as well as a 60 gallon community tank.

> 3 dayThis product allows me to fully pack some of the trays in my two Fluval 406 canister filters to provide maximum bio-filter capability for my 75 gallon tank that holds multiple 6 goldfish. With a tank setup like mine, there is a large amount of organic waste for the filters to process and this product does a great job for me. I find it works better than the cylinder shape products.

> 3 dayThis is great for the fish tank.

Greater than one weekI will only purchase 2 bio medias. This is one of them. I typically use this first, right after mechanical filtration. I do this because this pumice will overlap and force water to change paths. It provides the very last bit of slight mechanical filtration on the off chance something gets through. Because this is natural stone, it will have many I perfections and he highly inconsistent. That is ok by me because it has been a reliable performer as a bio media and final mechanical protectant for the last trays of Biohome, which has more porosity and uniformity. Between the 2 medias my tanks have thrived. Id be torn to pick just 1 as they have a few exclusive beneficial traits.
