Nice smell, true matte, quality.

I have somewhat stiff and thick straight hair that is rather puffy with no product. I find this lasts all day, does not give a heavy wet appearance but holds very well without being stiff or greasy. I love it and won’t buy anything else at this point.

This stuff is definitely a lower grade pomade out of the multitude Ive used in the past. It was only a stand in for my favorite brand which is Grants while the supplier was sold out. This stuff stains your hands orange after a while and I was worried it was having the same effect on my hair so I stopped using it. Very chunky and not easy to spread. Has a very peculiar odor to it as well, not pleasant. Sort of like chemicals.

I loved shiners gold, when I got my first hair cut at my now permanent barber. He was selling various pomades and shiners gold was one of them. I used the OG shiny pomade. Now that they sell Matt pomade I fell in love again with the same great smell

Not nearly as good as the Baxters Clay Pomade, but still pretty decent. This pomade is a lot softer than typical clay pomades I have used in the past. I does not last all day as some other high end clays will, but it will make you look good for at least a few hours. Be warned though, this pomade has a VERY strong fake coconut scent. It can actually be a bit overwhelming at first, but it goes away after a short time (or at least I get used to it enough that I cant smell it, but nobody has ever complained)

Ive been hunting for a hair clay that balances my ideal hold, scent, and price for a long time and finally found it in the older clay Shiner product. So, having no need for other products, I ordered multiple tins to stock up since I had finally found something that works perfect for me, only to receive the new product. Thats what I get for trying to stock up. I do not like the new product very much and am very disappointed I ordered not knowing they reformulated the product. Besides the tin, the scent, and the price, they are quite different. According to other reviews, they changed the formula for the color. Okay, I guess this is understandable. However, the hold is much lighter than the original. I prefer to apply product in the morning with slightly damp hair which used to leave my hair with a firm shiny texture, to which I would run my fingers through when dry and it would have a still have great loose hold only in a soft matte texture. The new product holds okay when first applied, but when adjusted looses its hold altogether. I wish I had been notified of the change as I would have been more cautious of purchasing multiple tins. They should have released a new product in a new package instead of reformulating the old one which I feel is deceptive. I will no longer be purchasing from them in the future.
