Nice hard stone, my experience is mostly with japanese style water stones, these remind me of my Shapton ceramic stones. nice hard stone would guess in the 1000 grit neighborhood, seems to really hard and slow wearing!.

I have 4 sharping stones that get my knives pretty sharp but I couldnt get it to the next level, this stone got me to that hair splitting razor blade sharp, after I used it on my EDC knife along with knives plus strop it will slice through a piece of paper by the weight of the knife, Ive never had a stone that would put an edge on a knife like that, outstanding performance

I bought this to sharpen gravers for jewelry making. It works well as a shaping stone, but doesnt get the high polish needed for gravers. I had to buy a finer stone to get that final polish that I was hoping for with this one. Still, it is handy to have around when I need to do more reshaping than the other stone can handle.

The stone whets carbon steel very nicely. I like the handsome little case too. Very nice!

They were a lot bigger than I wanted

I know they have a disclaimer that it can be other colors but I was expecting something white-ish. This is grey when dry and dark grey when oiled and feels/performs like 800grit soft arkansas. The other brands “hard fine Arkansas” this was replacing (case&smiths) was like glass compared to this. Guess I wanted translucent? That scratch pattern is smooth, looks bead blasted rather than scratches but definitely not polished which is what I was expecting.
