Stanley used to make good products. I purchased this 45 days ago. not something I use every day. Spring broke the third time I used it. Very displeased.

Ive always liked this design - easy to read and use. I own five or six of them so I can leave them in different places and still spend time looking for one !

Sometimes you just cant beat classic and simple. Everything you need, nothing you dont. Dont need magnets, dont need lasers, dont need multiple scales, I can count just fine. Good size, not too heavy, numbers and lines clear. When this one wears out, Ill be getting another of the same.

Its decent and sturdy as far as tape measures go. Markings are easy to read.

I believe this product is probably worth the money for the additional quality. This item is made in the U.S.A.

Measures things. Still having trouble sitting and extending the tape far enough to poke my girlfriend from various distances.

I bought this tape measure to replace our old one, which was also a Stanley Powerlock, but unfortunately broke. However, Im not happy that the case on this tape measure is cheap plastic instead of the original metal housing of our previous one. The tape measure works well, but Im very disappointed that the manufacturer chose to replace the durable metal case with plastic, which is more likely to crack if its ever dropped accidentally on a hard surface. Ill be looking for a more durable tape measure.

Got it for $10 as an add-on item for my second home in another state. This one is just like the other one Ive had for probably 30+ years. I previously was using an off-brand tape measure in the second home that had a plastic housing and exploded into pieces when I dropped it on a carpeted floor. It is obvious that this one wont do that. Im sure some of the other, more expensive measures may hold up better in day-to-day carpentry work, but this one is fine for Joe Homeowner. Per my carpenter buddy, if you are a carpenter, buy a 30 or 35 version. 25 is fine for most homeowners.

With a Tru-Zero end hook, a Mylar-coated blade, and a secure blade lock, the STANLEY 25 ft. PowerLock Tape Measure ensures precise measurements and long-lasting durability.

The Stanley Powerlock 25-Foot by 1-Inch Measuring Tape is a classic, and for good reason. Designed for professionals and weekend warriors alike, this top-notch product offers maximum usability in all types of measuring situations. Equipped with a range of useful goodies, the highly-portable tape will meet just about anyone’s needs. Standard features include a lockable blade for precise measurements and minimal slippage, a belt hook for easy access, a 1-inch wide blade for easy reading, and 16-inch and 19.2-inch stud center markings. Plus, Stanley has added a heat-treated spring to increase the tape’s lifespan.

Two unique features make this tape a standout. First, the blade is coated with mylar to help it stand up to abrasion associated with repeated use. Second, the patented Tru-Zero hook doubles as a pivot for drawing circles and arcs, and it automatically adjusts to handle inside or outside measurements. What this means is that the hook on the end has a small amount of play that is equivalent to the thickness of the hook blade. This is so that when you measure with the hook inside a stop (like a window jam), the front end of the hook is the zero point. When you hook it over the edge of a board, the zero point becomes the back of the hook.

Stanley does make a host of other measuring tools that may be worth checking out. At such a great price, most users can’t go wrong with this one.

The Stanley Story
The Stanley Works, originally a bolt and door hardware manufacturing company located in New Britain, Connecticut; was founded in 1843 by Frederick T. Stanley. A few years later, in 1857, Frederick’s cousin, Henry Stanley, founded The Stanley Rule and Level Company. In 1920, The Rule and Level Company merged with The Stanley Works and would go on to become it’s famous Hand Tools Division. Over the years, The Stanley Works has produced some of the most innovative and useful tools ever made. Among these tools are the Bailey Plane, the Surform shaper, the PowerLock tape rule and most recently the FatMax line of products. Today, more than ever, Stanley continues to be an industry leader in tool innovation. In 2001, Stanley introduced more than 100 new products, bringing to 400 the number of new products introduced in the past four years. As a direct result of Stanley’s commitment to excellence, Stanley was awarded the Prestigious Golden Hammer Award, presented for New Product Innovation in both 2000 and 2001.
