Starborn Deckfast Fascia Tool

Greater than one weekBest way to hang composite fascia. Looks better to just have two of these recessed color matching fascia screws every few feet, to hang the composite fascia, as opposed to trying to hide the screws. This tool drills the hole and recesses it all in one go. Gives some room for expansion and contraction. Tip: don’t fasten the screws too tight let it hang like Installing siding.

> 3 dayThis tool is, unfortunately, a bit of a must have for installing composite deck fascia boards. While the basic concept is great, there are some flaws that make what should be a very handy tool, into one that is tolerated out of necessity. First, the housing has only a small hole in the side for chips to escape. Because of the way the composite material cuts, the chips are typically quite large and do not fall out through the hole leading to a buildup inside the housing. Blowing through the hole in housing after each hole you drill will prevent any problems from this. A more open housing would be a better idea. Second, the edge of the tool that creates the counterbored recess for the screw head isn’t remotely sharp so it just scrapes material away rather than cutting it. This leaves the edge of the hole messy and requires much more time to drill than it really should. It also creates a lot of heat in the tool so clearing those chips mentioned earlier can be a bit painful. Finally, the drill itself is quite a bit longer than necessary. This isn’t a really big deal but it’s fairly annoying when trying to predrill a board before lifting it into place.

> 3 dayThe tool drilled the pilot hole and countersink hole as expected. However, the pilot hole was significantly larger that the screws I was using. The tool did the job but I would have preferred a smaller pilot hole for a better board attachment. My fault for not verifying matching diameters. If I had to purchase again, I would buy a tool with multiple pilot drills.

> 3 dayyou have to pay close attention to clean out the shavings between every couple holes - if not it jams up and leaves big marks on your fascia!! i did 2 boards this way before i noticed... now i have to replace $60 in boards so they dont have big rings around the screw holes :( other than that it worked ok - as mentioned in reviews it dulls quickly - which then requires much more time... but from what Ive seen there isnt many other options in regards to fascia screws - not super happy but could be worse.
