I bought this flashlight because the light my fire department issues will reflect off smoke, creating a situation where it is impossible to see 2 inches (literally). This light does just the opposite. It is capable of cutting through the smoke and allowing for better visibility in hazardous situations. the flash mode would be helpful in a mayday situation, and the low power level light is good for the normal flashlight stuff. Highly recommended.

Bought these for gifts but they work great and bright

Bought a used one which had to go back, although Im used to using these at work. The beam throws out a long way, & the compact profile with a very usable pocket clip makes this heavy duty flashlight mostly designed for Fire departments or security duty. They are made to last under harsh conditions, & so far the ones at my workplace have performed very well. A vast improvement over previous Streamlight products, well engineered & designed. Streamlight has modified the newer Survivor series with a rubberized lens ring that is far less vulnerable to damage from bumping or dropping it, this is an important upgrade.
