Update: Some improvement has been made since launch. Online still needs some fixes, but still much better than before. upgrading from 1 star to 4. Game feels unfinished. Tons of bugs, and the online is embarrassingly bad. I bought a switch just for smash bros, as I’ve been a smash fan since N64. Problems with online: Extremely bad lag. I’m even using the eithernet port 3.0 adapter. It’s just how their servers are set up. One person lags, everyone lags. It’s a problem Noted in lots of discussion forms. Also note this was a problem on previous platforms like the Wii U and was never fixed, so don’t count on Nintendo to fix it anytime soon. I’ll update this review if that changes. You can’t really select any of your preferences for a game. You will get put in a 1v1 or 4v4 depending on what the game wants. Forget about choice on items, that hasn’t happened yet. For me at least. If you’re here for strictly the single player you might be happy with it. That wasn’t what ultimate was advertised as though. People need to hold Nintendo accountable on this one.

The game is amazing

this game has the most bang for your buck. full price tag with all the dlc would be about $120 but you get 86 characters, 114 stages, 900+ songs, several modes that provide hours of entertainment. challenges to complete. and a wealth of online community content and online play. this is a game where having multiple controllers comes in handy. if you have a few GameCube controllers lying around they are great here. the biggest cons are that spirits themselves seem more lazy than trophies from past games but the challenges to get them are fun. its also much more fun to play with people who are about the same skill level as you, so if your new, play with other new people. this is the best smash bros game and you wont be dissapointed.

My son bought for his sister for Christmas. She loves the game
