This bag is great, really liked it and I had always wanted one. It had fit all my laptop gear and then some. BUT, it didnt fit the laptop itself. I have an MSI Titan gaming laptop (17.3in) and the corner of the laptop sticks out of the bag and I cant zip it up. Forget fitting it into the laptop sleeve slot. Maybe if it was thinner it would have fit, but my MSI too thicc with its nice cooling system. Boyfriend is happy to take it off my hands tho!

I got this as a gift for someone who travels a lot, so I cant really speak to longevity. Ive had dozens of laptop backpack over the years and this one has to be one of the best designed ones Ive seen. I initially purchased the larger one, since the detentions were only a half inch larger in each direction! That was a huge mistake. a half inch all around is way larger than one would think and no way that one would have fit under an airline seat. This bag, on the other hand is the perfect size for someone who has to carry a lot of gear, but needs to remain conscientious of size. The fact that it opens up like a clam shell is really nice. To think of all the times I had to manage two laptops, shoes, belt, wallet, carry on.....just shoot me already! This bag definitely keeps the line moving faster. Wish everyone had a similar set up going through the TSA checkpoints!

Swiss Gear backpacks last forever. The one my daughter has been using daily for 7 years had no issues other than her water bottle did not fit well. This one is more than a school backpack, with thicker/sturdier material. A bit heavier than I hoped. It is a wider backpack, but doesnt look weird on my slim daughter. I ordered slate and got a blue, which is part of the reason I knocked a star off. Not going to go through the hassle of exchanging though. The other reason is that it is really difficult to understand how much a bag weighs by itself online - Id like that to be included in the specifications.

This backpack is awesome! I bought this over 4 years ago to take to college and its still going strong! I havent had anything break on this, and I have loaded this up with multiple textbooks at a time. As a math major, I think this has probably gotten up to 50 pounds in it at least. Now I am working on my Masters and still using the same backpack. This is great for compartmentalizing and organizing your stuff. I can hang my keys or a Nalgene water bottle off the carabiner, I put my calculator in a side pocket, pencils/pens in the front, laptop in the back and most of my books in the front main pocket. Makes it really easy to find whatever I need. I have been very happy with this, and even if it breaks tomorrow, I think Ive gotten my moneys worth and will buy another SwissGear.

I’ve been using this backpack for six years, and in that time have used it nearly every day for work or travel. I can’t recommend it highly enough. It has been durable, useful, and done almost everything I ask of it. On travel days it carries two iPad Pros, one in an Otter Box case, a Kindle Fire, two backup Lion batteries, a bundle of charging cables and plugs, AirPods, passport, USCG documentation, two bundles of keys, TWIC card in a case, water bottle, full-size umbrella, bag of snacks, bag of nips, bag of meds, bottle of Ibuprofen, gum, mints, etc. It swallows all this and more, and while it’s heavy, because of the contents, it’s manageable and fits under the airplane seat. The bag has survived 6 years of brutal treatment in airports and aboard the commercial vessels I drive. It’s been my constant companion, and I only have one complaint. It doesn’t stand up on its own when fully loaded. When I place it upright on the floor or other surfaces it slowly leans forward, and eventually topples. So, I have to lean it against things or place it in such a way that it doesn’t fall. I’m writing this after six years of happy use because I finally broke one of the many zippers. I blame myself for overloading the main storage area and forcing the zipper. So, I’m retiring this great bag and, after much research replacing it with the SwissGear 5358, which is slightly larger and has a few slightly different design features. I’ll let you know if it measures up.

I bought this bag to replace a travel carry on I had. Funny how once I got to the airport that I noticed 50% of the travelers had Swiss Gear backpacks. Good sign. I bought this bag for my GF who is a Flight Attendant and she loved it. Anyway, it has pockets to keep all your stuff separate and organized. Everything is pretty easy to get into. The handle on top is great. On the left shoulder strap it has a band that you slide your sunglasses into to hold. That was the coolest. Why I didnt give 5 stars. It has a bit of weight to the bag even when empty. But, that is because it is a good quality bag. Just sayin. My only suggestion is to put your own tag or ribbon on it because everyone has one of these bags and they all look alike.

A very, very nice backpack. Sturdy, well made, and plenty of pockets to keep things organized. I particularly like the laptop pocket with the side zipper (makes it really easy to get in and out and the location of the zipper makes that compartment easy to find, two things I would have never thought to look for but really make a difference) and the way you can open the bag all the way up (without spilling your contents everywhere) to avoid taking the laptop when traveling is simply a great innovation. This really is a top notch backpack that has everything I need for work. when searching for things I dont like about it, I have to get really nit-picky. I would say the front compartment which would normally hold pens and business cards and such just seems off. The slots are an odd size and things dont fit great in it. However, there is a netted pocket inside the main compartment that is great for small things and thats where I keep my pens and other junk. Also, the side pockets are pretty small, so my mouse and charger are a tight fit, but in the end, they do fit. Obviously, these are very, very minor drawbacks to an otherwise stellar backpack and I would recommend this bag to anyone interested in a well made, professionally minded, nice looking backpack, especially considering the price. Ive had worse backpacks that cost twice as much (if not more!)

The backpack is nice and seems very well made, but the focus is clearly on the laptop compartment. The compartment for books and other gear seems more like an afterthought. Padding is nice, and there are two drink holders on the sides, but I find that the drinks often pop out of the holders if you throw you backpack onto the passenger seat of your car. The main compartment looks small, but so far Ive been able to fit a decent amount of gear in there, in addition to the laptop. I havent tried the smart scan feature yet, but Ill report back when I do. I only wish there were more small pockets for putting things like your headphones, micro USB charge cable, mini display port adapters and other wires to keep them separate. Not to mention holders for pens and pencils. As is, I tend to put them all in one compartment and when I go to take them out, the wires are all tangled. One thing I have liked so far is that it includes sleeves in the main compartment for keeping individual books, folders, envelopes, and papers separated. That way, you can remove and reinsert individual items without the risk of accidentally crushing a report that was already in your bag when you go to stuff something new in there. Also, the side pocket makes it easy to insert and remove your laptop without disturbing the other contents. Overall, it has a few weaknesses, but its suited my purposes well, which is primarily toting my laptop back and forth to work, and in the future taking it on travel.

I bought this backpack as a replacement for another Swissgear backpack that the strap broke. Although it is made well and I like the amount of pockets it has, I do miss the large front pocket in the front top of the bag that I had on my other one. It was big enough to hold my phone and inhaler as well as any pill bottles I carried on the plane. The construction of this pocket - with the zipper facing down is poor, in my opinion. When you open the pocket with the bag upright, everything falls out of it. The main pocket is large and can hold books, notebooks, my large teacher planner, etc. The back computer pocket holds my 13” Ipad, 15” Dell computer, as well as all charger cords, extension cords, and any other computer accessories. Overall, I like the bag, but do not care for the “improvements” that were made to this design.

I got this backpack on a gold box deal for $40, which was quite the steal. This backpack works tremendously for me going to and from work, as well as traveling for work or pleasure. I wish I had this backpack when I was in college, as it would have been invaluable then. This backpack is extremely roomy, well compartmentalized and very well designed. It has plenty of zippered compartments, and within the main zippered section there are small dividers at the bottom that can separate and organize folders, notebooks or papers into different sections...ingenious. There are zippered sections on the side that can fit my umbrella, and both sides have mesh pockets for water bottles. The front zippered pocket above the carabiner clip is small, and useful for items work such as pen drives, stopwatches, combs, lip balm, etc. And the frontmost section at the bottom also has plenty of dividers for my headphones, pens, wireless presenters, etc. I use it for going to work as well as traveling, and there is nothing better. The separate laptop compartment makes it a lot easier to go through security, and even when packed heavily the backpack still maintains a slim enough profile to count as my personal item on all the flights Ive traveled on. The main zippered section has a mesh pocket near the top where I keep my passport and other documents easily accessible. This backpack does everything I need it to and much more. The organization and design of it are impressive, and I will be using it for as long as it remains it one piece.
