If youre bothered by the white cast of physical sunblock, then dont bother reading on, because you wont like this sunscreen. If youre more concerned about skin- and reef-safe sunblock, though, this might be your new favorite. My skin is extremely sensitive, fair, and sunburn-prone, and Ive tried lots of different types of sunscreen. This is one of the most effective, but it is not my top choice. (Also, Im an adult. Yes, baby sunscreen works on us, too! :P ) PROS: * Top rated for *years* by the EWG (Environmental Working Group) as safe - both for you (and your kiddos) and for the environment. * Has never caused a rash, breakout, or reaction for my sensitive skin to date - including on my face. * Smells amazing! It has a light, citrus-y scent. * Prevents sunburn when applied correctly. You need to rub it in and spread it around, and you need to reapply it according to directions. Spent time in the water? Towel off and put more of this on. Sat out in the sun for a couple of hours? Time to reapply. Applying sunscreen is no fun - Im with you on that - but it is a necessary evil. I keep baby wipes in my beach bag to wipe my hands off after sunscreen application. * Less likely to get used up by sun-seekers. ;) People who are bothered by the white cast and those seeking a deep tan will definitely avoid borrowing your sunblock! CONS: * Its white. Like, really, really white. Thats part of the physical sun blocking barrier, yall. If you rub it in *really* well, it will become more transparent, but it still has a white cast. Im super fair, and I look ghostly for a while after applying this. But then, my goal is to avoid skin cancer, not to be on the cover of Sports Illustrateds Swimsuit Edition. * The white is also visible on swimsuits, towels, and pretty much everything else. Ive found that it usually comes out by rubbing the fabric with a towel and later washing as usual, but yeah, its going to get on fabric and at least temporarily show as white. * Its kind of greasy and leaves a layer on top of the skin, unlike chemical sunscreens, which are lighter and seem to absorb more quickly and fully (but are also possibly toxic for you, for the fish, and for the coral reefs - just sayin). * Because of the above cons, I really only use this by the pool or on beach vacations. Sunscreen can change the appearance of fabrics and some costume jewelry, so if you get it on good clothes or non-precious-metals, its a good idea to wipe it off quickly. I consider this more of a sport sunscreen, so Im generally not wearing my Sunday Best with it. This isnt my absolute favorite reef-safe sunblock, but it is a very, very good one, and its more affordable than my first choice (Beautycounter), so I buy a couple of tubes before vacation and I know Ive got good sun protection - and wont be sad if I decide to leave a 1/4 tube behind in order to get through airport security. For reference, I used nearly all of one of these tubes on a 5-day beach vacation, and this tube size definitely fits inside the TSAs required quart-sized plastic bag for carry on!

It is a little thick but dried clear. We havent had any sunburns while on vacation in Florida or during a midwest heat wave. Plus it is safe for the environment, my toddler and this pregnant mama.

This is an excellent option if you want to avoid using a lot of chemicals and things you cant pronounce on your baby (all that stuff is quickly absorbed into their system). Active ingredient is zinc oxide, which is the same active ingredient as in many diaper rash creams. Smells great, doesnt stay sticky or oily on the skin, works fabulously. Great for those hot summer days when its hard to keep them all covered up. Id even use it myself!

We LOVE thinkbaby sunscreen, it has a pleasant smell and is easy to apply as opposed to other baby friendly sunscreens. It also leaves a less ghostly appearance after application.

Absolutely horrible after smell. It gave me terrible headaches holding my son after he had it on and even after bathing him. Had to return it it was so bad. Now the smell lingers on his swimsuit and life jacket. Do not recommen.

Thinkbaby Safe Sunscreen was the first sunscreen to pass Whole Foods Premium Care requirements, and has held the highest rating in EWG"s database since 2010 with a “1” rating. As a company, Thinkbaby targets products containing questionable ingredients and develops safer alternatives. We led the movement from BPA, with the 1st BPA-free baby bottle (2006) to the 1st insulated BPA-free sports bottle (2006). We brought the same focus to developing body care and sun care products. None of our products have ever contained avobenzone, oxybenzone, parabens, phthalates, PABA, or 1,4 dioxane, to name a few of the chemicals of concern.

At SPF 50+ with broad-spectrum protection for UVA and UVB, and the highest water resistance allowed by the FDA, you can expect a highly effective solution for your littles and whole family. We are strictly against the use of aerosols due to inhalation concerns to the effectiveness and safety for users and the environment. Our mineral based (zinc oxide) formulations go on smooth and absorb easily without leaving you feeling sticky or goopy.
