Greater than one weekMy son is using this as his backpack for high school. They don’t have/use lockers any more so this is a great way to have a comfortable pack with lots of places to zip in all the things you need throughout the day-it also has a nice place to slide his laptop

> 3 dayThule Chasm Backpack is super durable and strong with a very good water resistant exterior. Very easy to access and holds my laptop securely along with so many other items. I love the shoulder straps as they are breathable and easy to put on my back. The price is really right and it lasts and I feel confident will hold up for years. The black color matches everything and does not show the dirt. Overall, amazing.

> 3 dayI really love this backpack! I used it on my first trip that I took in months and it really did the job. This is a fantastic bag for travel and everyday use. It has a sophisticated and sleek look. The material is durable and water resistant, and the stitching is tight. It has a nice carrying handle on the side when you can’t put it on your back. Wearing it as a backpack is very comfortable. The straps are padded and wide and it comes with a chest strap. They are pretty widely spaced straps so comfortable for women to wear as well as men. It does not a band to cinch up the excess strap when you cinch it to your back so you do get some dangling strap. It has a hidden water bottle pocket that I did not realize was there at first. It held my water bottle snugly and did not let it move around. The bag is rather narrow so it really wont fit really bulky items inside. Once you unzip it – and it is a partial zip, so this does not open like a clamshell bag, it has three compartments: a small one, a medium one that has organizer/pen pockets and a key hook, and the main compartment. The main one is divided in two with a laptop sleeve (which has quick access from a side zipper and is elevated to prevent hitting the ground when you set it down) and a large cavern. All smaller organizational pockets are lined with a micro-fiber cloth to protect screens and sunglasses. One down side it that the bag does tend to collapse easily and not stand upright when you set it down. Overall this is a great bag for urban use, for commuting, or for day hikes. Even in inclement weather it will protect what is inside it (as long as it is not a deluge!)

> 3 dayThules Chasm Backpack is made from a mixture of woven and rubberized fabrics. The backpack is very well made and feels substantial and robust. Its also very nicely made with good attention to detail, smooth zippers, and a well trimmed interior. The backpack has a large and deep main compartment. It has a padded sleeve in the back of the main compartment that fits my 15 MacBook Pro or 10 iPad Pro well. You can also access the padded sleeve from the side of the backpack when you need to retrieve your electronics quickly. On the front of the backpack are two additional compartments. One is small and lined with a soft fleece. The other is deep and contains multiple pockets and pouches. I used the backpack for a week-long vacation to take my toiletries, large Bluetooth speaker, iPad, Kindle, chargers, car keys, electric shaver, and a change of clothes. All of the items fit well and were easy to organize and find when I needed to. The Thule is easy and comfortable to carry on your back. The straps and rear of the backpack are nicely padded and there is a strap that goes across your chest for added support and stability. There is a carry handle on the top and side. All in all... a great backpack.

> 3 dayLove the shape of this backpack however after cutting out the laptop padded divider that should have been designed with Velcro for easy removal I am semi disgusted and happy with it at thy same time. With removing the padded divider I can now fit enough clothing, toiletries, charging cords etc for a two night stay for a short vacation. The blue exterior fabric is semi hard and would have to be really packed full for it to keep its form. The corners of seams tend to push inward versus outward and for $160, this is not acceptable from a name like Thule. The straps for a muscular man that’s 5’8, 180lbs it fits good, feels good carrying. The top zipper pouch I enjoy having on a backpack to get things I use often like mints, Bose earbuds, etc so although I do love the backpack I’m disappointed Thule didn’t design ahead putting Velcro on the divider. (Update after trip) I upgraded from 3 to 5 stars because this bag is a perfect fit for a 2-3 night trip maybe 5. I am 5’8, 170, medium muscular build size 31 waist. The bag fit perfectly resting at the top of my glutes and the straps curved perfectly around my body. With the chest piece connected the weight was distributed perfectly. In Las Vegas the airports are huge with a lot of walking and hanging out for ur flight. I found the side handle top handle top pouch to be perfect for getting in and out to get what I needed. I wish the top pouch was hard with an inner hard bottom versus the net as I was worried something would compress against my iPhone which was in there without a case as I don’t use a case so just my wish and I did have to cut out the laptop divider but I fit 4 athletic men’s medium shorts, 4 medium under shorts, 3 socks, 5 tshirts, my toiletries charging cables extra small things in zip lock bags 5 sandwich size bags and a ball cap I still could’ve put a pair of shoes. The bag if not over loaded will fit in the spirit free carrying personal bag. If over packed it will not fit. I found the zippers hard to open one handed. I needed a finger loop near the top zipper pouch to hold on to as I had to pinch the top of the bag just to unzip. One handed was challenging. Overall Thule has horrible customer service but they do make excellent backpacks I’d love to see this bag improved with a Velcro pull out laptop divider as I cut mine out for more room. I found three dudes behind me speaking Spanish trying to pronounce Thule was fun to hear. Excellent design minus a few needed tweaks.

> 3 dayTrue to their name, Thule made a very durable backpack which is great for rainy days. * Design * There outer material feels durable and its water resistance. There is a comfortable vertical handle to carry the bag which is a nice feature if you want to carry it by hand or remove it from the overhead bins when air travelling. The straps design means that the bag sits slightly higher then the shoulder line (which might help with easing back pressure). the bag is long and narrow so it wont fit bulky stuff inside. The straps are nice and wide and there is a chest strap. I didnt particularly liked that the main compartment opening is limited by the zipper going only half way (and thats only on one side, the other side is even shorter) There are three main compartments: 1. A small one to keep small stuff like phones (even an iPad mini could fit there). Its soft and will keep your screen safe 2. Mid compartment to keep all kind of stuff in organized pockets and a hook for keys. 3. Main comportment divide to two, one for a laptop (which could also be quick access from a side zipper) and various other larger items that you couldnt fit in the mid section * Functionality * The lack of a lower strap, for me, means that its not very suitable for longer hikes. It will be great for shorter hikes, specially when its wet outside or urban/work travel when its rainy to keep my laptop safe from the elements. Overall Its pretty comfortable on the back when its was about 75% loaded but, again, the long narrow design means that its difficult to put bulky items inside or else easily reach the bottom of the main comportment. Overall Its a great bag for urban and commute and itll keep you valuables safe. Made by Thule means its going to be one durable backpack that will last for quite a while.

> 3 dayIts a comfortable bag with great storage organization and the laptop zipper on the side is very convenient. Its not as water resistant as I thought it would be, but nothing in my bag has gotten wet yet. The exterior just holds some of the water and isnt as repellant as I thought.

> 3 dayGiven the price and the Thule name, you shouldnt really expect much else, but this is a very high quality (and slightly overpriced) backpack meant for..what? Its great at keeping your laptop safe - it has padding on every side and edge (which many backpacks forget) and it has a ton of storage in a semi-water resistant package, but Im still a little confused. The form factor and storage methods (two deep segments with a few quick reach pockets at the top of one) seem to lend this to a clothing carrier for camping/hiking, since it has much less pockets than something like a Swiss backpack to easily segment your items, but the inclusion of a laptop pouch would seem to make it more of a general purpose backpack still heavily suited to outdoorsy activities. Ive never thought about bringing my laptop out on a hike or a bike ride with me, but I guess I do appreciate the option. So if youre the type of person who doesnt want a bunch of pockets in your backpack because youre going to stuff them with clothes or other bulky items but also wants a dedicated protective laptop slot, this is a great backpack for you. The market seems a bit niche but it does seem to exist.

> 3 dayThis backpack is perfect for my needs. I got it to protect my new laptop when I go to work for 24 hour shifts. I have a notebook, iPad, and a case with my chargers and headphones that all fits easily in the large compartment. The middle compartment I keep writing utensils, a pocket knife and some odds and ends as well a vitamin case in the zipper pocket which fits perfectly. The small outer packet holds keys, a bag of floss picks, wallet, etc. Love this backpack and get comments For the record I got the olive color and it’s great. Most of my clothes are grey, blue, and black like a lot of men and the olive green goes well with all of it. If you are looking for an all purpose back pack but also want to protect a laptop the chasm is highly recommended.
