This is seriously the nicest backpack I have ever owned. You pay for what you get: solid construction, durability, great fabrics and materials, strong zippers, roominess, and pockets. The straps I would say are more durable than soft. They are still comfortable. If youre looking for a strong hiking/traveling pack, this is definitely worth it!

I really love this backpack! I used it on my first trip that I took in months and it really did the job. This is a fantastic bag for travel and everyday use. It has a sophisticated and sleek look. The material is durable and water resistant, and the stitching is tight. It has a nice carrying handle on the side when you can’t put it on your back. Wearing it as a backpack is very comfortable. The straps are padded and wide and it comes with a chest strap. They are pretty widely spaced straps so comfortable for women to wear as well as men. It does not a band to cinch up the excess strap when you cinch it to your back so you do get some dangling strap. It has a hidden water bottle pocket that I did not realize was there at first. It held my water bottle snugly and did not let it move around. The bag is rather narrow so it really wont fit really bulky items inside. Once you unzip it – and it is a partial zip, so this does not open like a clamshell bag, it has three compartments: a small one, a medium one that has organizer/pen pockets and a key hook, and the main compartment. The main one is divided in two with a laptop sleeve (which has quick access from a side zipper and is elevated to prevent hitting the ground when you set it down) and a large cavern. All smaller organizational pockets are lined with a micro-fiber cloth to protect screens and sunglasses. One down side it that the bag does tend to collapse easily and not stand upright when you set it down. Overall this is a great bag for urban use, for commuting, or for day hikes. Even in inclement weather it will protect what is inside it (as long as it is not a deluge!)

Great backpack for day and travel use. Lots of pockets and areas to keep your items safe. Nice, sleek looking bag.

Everything is good, but the shoulder strap broke after 1 month. I guess my gaming laptop is too heavy.

This backpack is great! The backpack is very durable - its front and base are water-resistant. There are tons of features and storage. To start, there is a compartment for your computer, which is both accessible from the top of the backpack and also from the side. It is big enough for a 15 inch lap top. The main compartment is definitely large enough for my use. There is a secondary storage, which is the front compartment, which is also really handy. It is big enough for an iPad (not an iPad Pro) and other smaller items. There are a couple of zippered compartments within the smaller storage compartment. There is a nice slot for sunglasses that is protected and another compartment for smaller items and a spot for pens and pencils. Lastly, I love that it has a side pocket for a water bottle. This is great for work, school, or travel. Really functional, lots of storage, and really durable.

Excited to try out the Thule Chasm 26L. It was listed as good for bicycling, so I figured it would be good for use on a motorcycle as well. It is a great option for this, didnt flop around while on the road. The straps made it easy to wear it snug- it would have been nice to have somewhere to tuck away the excess strap after cinching it. Pros: Stitching looks durable All smaller/ organizational pockets are micro-fiber lined 3 Pen pockets are full-sized (a bigger deal than youd think-- you can fit an Apple pencil in this! Quick access pocket is just the right size, not too big to lose items but not too small to render useless An elevated laptop sleeve keeps a laptop from getting damaged if the bag is set down too hard on its bottom Cons Only 3 admin pockets in the front compartment 2smaller slip pockets and one larger Bottom of the bag collapse to easily which prevents the bag from standing upright while loading or unloading the bag The only way to set the bag down without it falling over is to set it on its side after removing your water bottle The base of the bag has weather-resistant material that doesnt feel durable enough Overall I like this bag a lot (FAR more than the similar Osprey bags I tried) and will continue to use it.

This is a great backpack! No protests from the flight attendants when I put it under the seat during takeoff. It fits into the smallest section near the aisle. The sides are perfectly flush with the compartment. It was on a Delta flight, but I think you could probably get away with using this backpack as a personal item on budget carriers as well. It helps to put the pack straps down and head first, since the top section of the pack is somewhat tapered from the back to the front. The backpack itself is very comfortable. I appreciate the chest strap when it is fully loaded. I feel like I could hike 15 miles with this thing. One complaint is that the main pocket is a little hard to access.

This backpack is awesome. Waterproof, super comfy even when full, beautiful. I particularly love the little pocket to the front and the opening for the laptop/tablet to the side

Thules Chasm Backpack is made from a mixture of woven and rubberized fabrics. The backpack is very well made and feels substantial and robust. Its also very nicely made with good attention to detail, smooth zippers, and a well trimmed interior. The backpack has a large and deep main compartment. It has a padded sleeve in the back of the main compartment that fits my 15 MacBook Pro or 10 iPad Pro well. You can also access the padded sleeve from the side of the backpack when you need to retrieve your electronics quickly. On the front of the backpack are two additional compartments. One is small and lined with a soft fleece. The other is deep and contains multiple pockets and pouches. I used the backpack for a week-long vacation to take my toiletries, large Bluetooth speaker, iPad, Kindle, chargers, car keys, electric shaver, and a change of clothes. All of the items fit well and were easy to organize and find when I needed to. The Thule is easy and comfortable to carry on your back. The straps and rear of the backpack are nicely padded and there is a strap that goes across your chest for added support and stability. There is a carry handle on the top and side. All in all... a great backpack.
