Thule Subterra Backpack 34L

> 3 dayUPDATED: I’ve travelled with this a few times and docked a star after spending more time with it. This bag is clearly bullet proof and will last forever. My only complaint is the front compartment is way too cramped and, as I tend to travel with a lot of tech (Nintendo switch/wireless headphones/cameras/etc) it becomes quite annoying to use and way too small. If this bag had a bigger front compartment, some small item organization in the main compartment, and a small item compartment on the outside, I would give it a 5. That’s my only qualm. Otherwise I love it and especially love it as a day bag! For long trips it gets too cramped. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Ive had this bag for a few weeks, and havent done a big trip with it yet, but so far Im really enjoying it. This bag has a ton of volume, but when youre just using it as a day pack, you barely notice how large it is. The bag itself is quite light and comfortable to wear, and has a very streamlined look when empty. There are plenty of organizational features in the outer compartment and its easy to keep everything separate. My three favorite features are the inner packing cube, the side handle, and the side zippers. The packing cube is of much higher quality than aftermarket cubes, and it has a handle so you can easily isolate your clothes. In fact, I have the cube packed right now waiting for my wife to give birth so when its time to go to the hospital Ill throw it in the bag and be packed in a matter of seconds! With the side handle, it makes it super easy to carry and throw in the car and I love how it feels like a briefcase in that case. Finally, the side zippers make it super easy to access a laptop or the main compartment, and Im looking forward to breezing through security with it next time I fly. Two things to keep in mind: the bag doesnt stand up on its own, which can be annoying if thats what you expect. I am not bothered by this. Also, if you use it as a day pack when not traveling as I am, you might find youre stuffing everything into the front compartment, which can mean it gets messy in there. I wish there was some organization compartments in the main compartment to avoid this, even a single mesh compartment in there would be nice. I spent a ton of time reviewing bags and watching youtube videos. I found the Subterra to be one of the best values out there: the price is almost half that of other well rated bags, and the materials feel just as strong. I bought another daypack at the same time thinking Id only use the Subterra for travel, and I quickly returned that one as I realized I already had a perfect daypack with the Subterra. Finally, if youre like me and a little larger, this bag wont look silly on you like some of the small day packs. I really like how it looks on me. Im thrilled with it so far and will update the review once I do a bigger one-bag trip!

Greater than one weekI did a bit of research for my upcoming trip and decided to take a chance on this pack. The good: Its quality material, and getting stuff into and out of it is pretty easy. The side access and additional handles are really great. The bad: The front pocket is not really conducive to putting stuff into it that youd usually put in a front pocket. Not enough room and not enough interior pockets. You can fit (barely) an ipad mini and a kindle in the slid in section. Additionally, if you do pack the bag fairly full, you wont be able to fit in under the seat in front of you. Also, the packing cube that comes with it is pretty large. I didnt use it, and used a smaller one instead. All that being said, I was very satisfied with this pack and absolutely would recommend it for traveling.

> 3 day1st impression is wow: simple design without too much stitching, too many zippers or unnecessary pockets. the blue color is perfect although am always grey or black. Took it to my first trip this weekend and it’s so spacious and settles well on the shoulders even when loaded. The material is tough yet wit elegant feel. Recommended to those who like simple design with good space and necessary pockets only.

> 3 dayI love this new style from Thule. I have used the Crossover for many years now, which I loved too. I felt just a little too overwhelmed with all the pockets in the crossover. The subterra is much more concise. I am still not sold on the opening of the 34 vs the 30, but tit does give me extra space. As always from Thule, a lot of thought was put into all facets of the design. Definitely recommend, but may want to look into the 30 L also.

> 3 dayHi ! One of the main reasons to select this model of bag instead of Osprey or Wandrd was the functionality of having the packing cube with all my clothes and quickly removing it and turning into a regular backpack. So it was very disappointing and shocking when I received the bag without the packing cube. Would like to ask for the Amazon support to receive it !!! Thanks in advance, Rafael Iglesias

> 3 dayI fly often for work and this bag provides great access no matter how it goes under the seat in front of me.
