I was shopping for TurboTax Premier 2008 and noticed a lot of negative reviews for a usually outstanding product. Based on negative reviews I read, people are upset with the price increase and license limits for 2008, not the quality of the software. Ive been using tax preparation software for about 10 years and Ive used both TurboTax and TaxCut. Although more expensive, I believe TurboTax is a better product than TaxCut and probably worth paying a little more (just a little). Not discouraged by the reviews, I shopped around Amazon.com and within minutes I found TurboTax Premier + State 2008 for less than $40 ($79.99 retail). The comparable product from TaxCut is $49.99 and I would recommend that to people preparing multiple returns. As much as I would like to send the message to Intuit by NOT buying their software this year, I dont feel like Im being ripped off at all. In fact, Ive been buying TurboTax products from online re-sellers for years at less than half the retail price. There are bargains out there if youre willing to spend a little time researching and comparing. Ill keep using TurboTax as long as I can buy it from online re-sellers at reasonable prices. Ill switch to something else if my tax situation changes and I need to file multiple returns. By the way... If youre looking for TurboTax Premier 2008 + State + E-File, I found it for $39.99 plus $3.99 s/h on Amazon.com from seller: Arcadevideo.

Last year was bad enough -- now they increased the price and still charge you for e-files and state taxes etc. Thankfully you can transfer your turbo information to Tax-cut cause that is where I am going this year -- the economy is in the tank and these guys at Intuit say - lets screw the customer even more. Goodbye Intuit!

I will not use Turbo Tax anymore if I have to pay an additional $10 for each family members tax return. I have used TurboTax for more than twenty years. I will also give up on using Quicken after more than twenty years using it because of these Intuit changes.

Product came as advertized, delivered on time. Price was not as competitive as I had hoped.

I have been using Turbo Tax since it first came out. Actually been using computer based tax preparation since one became available for the Comodore 64! TurboTax is a serviceable program, albeit over priced, and its fairly easy to understand and use for simple taxes. It has changed its look and functions AGAIN! Every year, maybe as an excuse to charge what they do, they change the way things look and the method you have to use to get it to work. Just when you think you know how to make the best use of the program they change it again! Like NEW Coke! I have no problem with making the program more efficient and more reliable and error free - just leave the controls alone so they look the same year to year - new is not necessarily better - ask Microsoft!

If a company wants to charge more for an improved product because realistically they need to cover the costs that went into creating that better product, fine. But this new price structure is just garbage. Clearly Intuit is at that point with TurboTax where they think people will stomach unjustified price increases because (a) changing software is annoying and (b) its still cheaper than paying a tax professional. I hope they are sorely mistaken. I urge people not to be scared of trying a new product this year. I have used TurboTax every year since I started doing my taxes and am excited to move on to a new product this year.

The Premier version as marketed by Intuit and sold by Amazon is still overpriced. Since the Deluxe version does not support preparation of Schedule D, this means you will pay $30 more just to have the capability to prepare this form. Premier ($74) minus Deluxe ($45)= approx. $30.. Amazon initially offered the Deluxe version at about $59, and is now selling it for around $45! About the same as TaxCut. I guess the Intuit product wasnt flying off the shelves. Amazon, its about time to lower the Premier version $20 or so. It appears your other sellers have no problem with the $50 price range!

In past years you could do up to five returns and install on multiple computers but NOT this year. You get ONE return included and additional returns cost $9.95. Not that $9.95 will break the bank but it shows that Intuit will continue to gouge their customers with their over priced software. Check on line. The IRS offers a FREE online filing tool. Find other software but dont continue to feed the greed at Intuit.

State download was very vague on how to handle the death of one of the joint filers. It did not provide any kind of explanation on how that should be handled and reported. Ive very disappointed with the product. I thought they had most issues covered but they really missed this one.
