> 24 hourThese switches run hot enough they can burn you. Becareful almost where you mount these and do not let anything else touch them. Easy Vlan setup. High speed, remote access, highly programmable.

> 24 hourThe best bang for the buck. Endless configurations and information if you want it. Runs silent and temperature stable. No crashes and easy on the eyes.

> 24 hourPerformance is amazing paired with my Edgerouter ER4. I tried 2 other cheaper switches (unmanaged and managed) that couldnt deliver performance wise and lacked easy to use features. The EdgeSwitch 8 allows me to setup some home/office/IOT VLANs. Im getting over 980 Mbps download speeds on my cable ISP consistently. Theres a huge amount of examples and YouTube training videos to get you started. Not hard if youve played with routers or networking before.

> 24 hour1. Just be sure you know the difference between the US-8-150w and ES-8-150w. Both are similar, but if you have existing Unifi/Ubiquiti wireless gear - you will want the other model (US-8/white). If not, then you want this one (ES-8/black). Both are excellent, but only if you get the one better suited for your network. 2. There isnt much that this switch cant do - and for the price - its phenomenal: All 8 ports are GB and POE+ (and you have 2 additional SFP ports), LAG, VLANs, Ping Watchdog (if POE device fails to respond it will cycle power on the port), STP, etc. 3. You can configure it via Web interface or SSH/command line or not at all. Plug it up and by default it will get a DHCP ip address and work as a regular switch.

> 24 hourIt’s hard to find real switches under 16 ports as this tends to drop into more “Consumer” grade products This ES8 is serving as a small trunk to an ES24. It powers two small x86 machines using 802.113AT without issue. It also provides passive PoE reliability. Throughput to devices on the uplinked switch is as if it was native. Not a single feature nor any performance compromises in the ES8. If you need an 8 port switch and 802.113xx this is what you want to pick up. It also supports link aggregation so that’s an option if you really need it I haven’t made use of the SFP module but I expect it works just as well as the rest of the device. Highly recommend, especially if you need PoE/PoE+ Note that because the ES8 can push 150W, it can not be powered over Ethernet itself. If you want a smaller switch that can be powered by PoE, look at the Edge-X or the Edge-X Advanced. They support PoE input AND can do passive 2-wire PoE output.

> 24 hourI bought the Ubiquiti EdgeMax router a while back and was impressed. Had an old Cisco 2960 10/100 switch and some PoE injectors running the wired portion of my house. Got rid of 4 injectors and the old switch and replaced with this one unit. EASY setup and management! Saw my PoE devices and auto configured the power settings. Small footprint and VERY quiet. Great hardware and a decent feature set.

> 24 hourIve grown dissatisfied with the Unifi line. Ubiquiti is not listening to users and the Unifi controller has been rocky lately. Multiple interface changes, feature breaking firmware updates etc. These switches do run hot but I converted from the Unifi line which runs just as hot. Did not want to have to run a controller and constantly update firmware anymore for advanced home gear. Love this design though. It is rock solid hardware-wise, the new interface is simple but that is not a bad thing... It does everything I need it to. Superb switch that will run for a long time. I do wish Ubiquiti had more options for 48v and newer POE standards in their smaller Edgeswitches... Most only offer 24v other than this one. I was able to convert all my Unifi gear to these switches and the TP-Link EAP245 access points for little cost other than time spent selling off my old gear. Broke even, no more controller needed and even better performance!

> 24 hourEverything looked fine with the switch during testing, but when put under load of a tower, it would run and work for about an hour, then loose all VLAN settings and rename itself to ERROR-A12. Opened a ticket with Ubiquiti support and they say it is defective. I have another identical switch in another tower and it works fine. But this one is garbage.
