> 24 hourI purchased 2 of these directly from the manufacturer (it was cheaper there, too). The install into my ceiling was simple, but the drywall mounts these come with are crappy, I swapped them out with others I had from Home Depot. I dont have an existing Ubiquiti ecosystem to link these up with; Im only using them as standalone wifi access points with my Asus router. I was a bit frustrated when I first tested the speeds on these because I was only getting 80mbps on 5ghz band. Turns out my existing setup only provided PoE and not the PoE+ these need. So, I had to buy some additional hardware to give the access points the power they required and the speeds jumped way up.

> 24 hourThis access point works very well in both the 2.4 and 5.0 GHz spectrum. Installed, it has great signal... much better than the comparable product (Unifi UAP-AC-Pro).

> 24 hourI love Unifi gear, but the older Pros came with PoE injector. these ones did not. caused delays.

> 24 hourNo problems took approximately 5 minutes to upgrade and add to system. My speeds are 714mb Wi-Fi. A little bigger and 1lb heavier than Unifi pro (older model).

> 24 hourThis is an odd review to write -- it should be two - -a 3 and a 5. If this were the *old* Ubiquiti, it would be a 5, but companys approach of late takes it down. The problem: Unifi is great, and for some situations, *the* solution. But, in the old days, it was at prosumer pricing. It was no-brainer. Today, its near enterprise pricing,. and to be honest, there are better enterprise offers from real enterprise players. Dont get me wrong -- the product works as expected and works well, but at the price, you can go to players like Arista and Rukkus. Also, if you know why you need Unifi, say youre building out an office with 30 of these, again, a no-brainer, but at the new price, you have choices, and its no longer home-budget friendly. Add to that the poor software support for the controller and its hard to vote a 5

> 24 hourI am an IT expert, my main network is all manually managed Mikrotik products including multiple POE switches, >3 access points, and multiple routers. I decided to see what the fuss was about for Ubiquiti and purchased this to setup at a remote location, in order to truly use all of the features you need deploy their controller software to manage the device...perhaps the controller doesnt need to be running 24/7 to operate, but it really is needed to manage or diagnose the network. This is a bit of a bummer and definitely makes this for more advanced users only, at least Mikrotik can be configured 100% of every feature with a web browser, an iOS app, or a Windows based app (that works perfectly in Wine on Mac/Linux). It wouldnt be as bad if you could actually build a full network with Mikrotik and use the controller to manage the firewall/router, and perhaps some day you can...but today most all Ubiquiti hardware isnt even available to purchase unless you pay scalper prices. This AP is WiFi 6, and it does offer some improvement in performance over my very old Mikrotik hardware...but not hardly enough to truly justify the nearly 3X price tag over my WAP AC (RBWAPG-5HACT2HND). I wont be replacing my completely reliable Mikrotik network anytime soon, and the 2nd location has this Unifi 6 Pro paired with a Mikrotik router since Ubiquiti doesnt offer full solutions at any reasonable price point.

> 24 hourI hadnt used or been exposed to any Ubiquiti products prior to this, but needed a new Access Point with VLAN capabilities. Was using an Apple Airport prior which just worked flawlessly for years and natively split off main and guest networks via VLAN 1002. When the wifi piece suddenly died, I purchased a top of the line NetGear wifi router costing over double, just to discover I had not VLAN options if in AP only mode. I already have a frewall and router, so needed the AP to work with it, and not replace it. Support for NetGear was atrocious. Took forever to get a straight answer and was pitched an extended warranty multiple times to replace their lame 90 day warranty. Took it back, researched again and stumbled across UniFi. At first I wasnt sure I could use a business grade AP, but the more I read the more convinced I was that UniFi, while maybe not the fastest, would support my application best. I had a bit of a learning curve to deal with regarding the controller, which I didnt realize I also needed. Discovered it can be a product run on virtually any platform, so once I had that figured out, I was off to the races. Plugged in the UniFi after configuring the controller and the AP immediately showed up in the console and imported with ease. Ive been using it for over a month at this point and have nothing but praise. Solid and stable. Initially, I was a bit disappointed with the speeds I was getting as the NetGear was faster. I later discovered exactly why and other brands are pushing numbers to win the speed race, but at the price of stability. I can 100% match and beat the speeds of the NetGear router/AP with this UniFi AP, but would suffer from the same issues. NetGear and others are by default using as wide of bandwidth as they can get to increase speed. Thats actually pretty handy if youre out in the middle of nowhere, but in regular neighborhoods, where others are using their WiFi APs, it creates overlap and conflicts. No AP can go to a safe channel at that point, because the bandwidth is taken up by one or two neighbors. Nice that the UniFi shows you whats around, so you can set up the best signal. All in all, theres not much I dont like about this AP. Definitely worth the cost and a bit more setup effort. Once your controller is up and running, everything Ubiquiti becomes cake to adopt and use. Nicely done!
