I like the unit and added speaker. I did not like the Third Party Delivery (Fed Ex) Stated they left the package at the front door, but dropped it in wet grass (raining) approx. 1-2 feet from the busy road side. It could have been stolen, run over by a car or the postman of got wet enough to destroy the electrical unit.

Had this for 4 years now and it works great, no issues. It’s been turned on for the past 4 years and still going strong. Only downfall it’s hard to program but once get the hang of it no problems.

Before I purchased this unit I read many of the reviews. I suggest that anyone considering a purchase do the same and after the purchase take the advise of several of the more knowledgeable reviewers. Being a Uniden I expected quality and some frustration. I was not disappointed. This is a very nice scanner and a good value if (repeat, if) you are patient and understand the limitations of the radio and the manual. If you want a be-all-to-end-all scanner, then spend $400-$500. This $100 unit will not suit you. Based upon my limited use so far I have found that the sensitivity is good and adjacent channel rejection is good. The functions are clearly marked and the display is clear and easily read. The speaker is terrible (normal for smaller radios) and you should purchase an after market speaker. The included accessories (antennas, DC power options, etc.) are good. An external antenna (AntennaCraft ST-2 for instance) is a good idea. Given the price I would say: Appearance - 5 (Nice smaller unit) Features - 4 Sensitivity / Rejection - 4 (This is based upon limited use so far and is subject to later revision) Ease of Use - 3 (Needs better manual. Programming is a pain, but worth it.) Overall - 4

It works well. My only complaint is it came through the mail in it’s original packaging- just the scanner box with a shipping label popped on it. Not even an extra strip of tape to hold it closed for sure. We’re lucky it wasn’t damaged , anything missing from inside or totally stolen. We had a good laugh thinking, well it sure came fast because they just printed our address and put it straight on the box, no added hassle or time.

I purchased this scanner for my car. It came with everything you need car adapter, plug, etc the concern I have is on the back of the scanner it states 13.8 volts and is going to be plugged into a 12 volt adapter. Although most cars I know of are 12 volts but because my vehicle which is a Subaru is very sensitive I called customer service at Uniden to explain the 13.8 volts, One agent said he did not know then referred me to email in which I did with no response, I called again and the agent indicated wire it to the battery. What was strange to me is that both agents stated this scanner is not for a car even though the manual states you can use it in a vehicle with the plug in adapter or hard wire it. Bottom line, my questions where not answered completely and will have to hard wire it to the battery even though I did not want to do that.

It does scan all 1700 available frequencies so its a little slow you miss a lot of the back and forth. It has amazing range i can pick up services 20 + miles away but I miss the local stuff cause I cant lock in only those channels. And yes you can save them in favorites but it scans them after making the the full sweep of the 1700 possible channels. Also go for the larger extension speaker the little speaker built in is a little small for the job. But all in all for the price you can hear all available channels , and it does come with everything you need to plug and play right out of the box.

Im a beginner when it comes to police scanners and am glad this was very easy to set up. You just literally plug in the power and plug in the antenna and you are good to go. Thanks to earlier reviews I bought an aftermarket antenna and used it at the get go so i havent run into the issues with reception that other reviewers have mentioned. Also thanks to another earlier review I was able to (fairly) easily program my local police departments channel into the private bank. Although it did take a little extra time because for one I couldnt input the channel directly and for two the search arrows have to be pushed over and over again for each channel change instead of being able to simply hold the button down and have it scroll through quickly to the channel I wanted. This lead to me having to hit the scroll up botton I kid you not 150 times before I got to the station I wanted and was able to save it into the private bank. But now that its in there it is super convenient. The built in speaker is adequate and quite loud when turned up all the way. It is a tad fuzzy but its hard to tell if that is due to the quality of the speaker or the quality of my local polices radio equipment (I live in a small town that is kind of behind the times when it comes to technology). That being said, even though its a little fuzzy, I am still able to understand almost all of what is being said.

As with most things you get what you paid for. There are scanners out there that are easier to use and program, but that also cost a conciderable more money. This product does sacerfice some ease of use features that are present on higher priced models like number keys for programming channels, but it doesnt skimp on sound quailty or build. For a small electronic device this is built like they did back in the day housed in a nice solid case with tight buttons and nice sturdy dials there should be no fear in mountiing this in the hardest working trucks out there. Scan is relitivly fast for a scanner at this price point. Make no mistake this is a little to no frills device but youre also not paying a premium for those features. In short this leaves out some items that are convenience items but nothing that I couldnt live without. If you want a nice scanner for the right price that delivers where it counts, you cant loose with this one. As a side note the item came in sooner then I expected and Im 100% happy with the vendor and Amazon delivery
