Greater than one weekI purchased this scanner for my car. It came with everything you need car adapter, plug, etc the concern I have is on the back of the scanner it states 13.8 volts and is going to be plugged into a 12 volt adapter. Although most cars I know of are 12 volts but because my vehicle which is a Subaru is very sensitive I called customer service at Uniden to explain the 13.8 volts, One agent said he did not know then referred me to email in which I did with no response, I called again and the agent indicated wire it to the battery. What was strange to me is that both agents stated this scanner is not for a car even though the manual states you can use it in a vehicle with the plug in adapter or hard wire it. Bottom line, my questions where not answered completely and will have to hard wire it to the battery even though I did not want to do that.

> 3 dayhello i recently bought this scanner for my uncle. Since buying this item i have found myself listening it just as much as he does. When we got the scanner it was programmed out of the box with some preset codes that work perfectly for our area, the box came with all the accessories to hook up to a car or home and is loud enough that anyone can hear it. My only complaint is that the antennae does not pick up alot of traffic if you live outside of a town but that can be corrected by buying a bigger antennae. Another problem is if you already have codes to program in, there is no key pad to program them in to the private bank but beyond these problems this is a good beginner to intermediate scanner for anyone. Still i like it and am happy i bought it.

> 3 dayUp front: this is an older model, and does not receive digital transmissions. But with that being known ahead of time, this scanner is simply the best, easiest, and highly usable for my purposes. I wanted something that would be great for use in my travel trailer. I need to go to a new area and pick up whatever local stations are transmitting. I want to hear the cops and fire, but also ham radio repeaters, and aircraft from time to time. And it even gets CB which is something I might need too. The close call feature is great, as expected, for those times when there are mystery stations nearby such as the security guard in the RV park chasing someone, or hams at a hamfest QSYing where they think its a private freq). Big features I like are a) programming searched out channels into a bank, b) storing my own favorite freqs into the private bank, no matter what the service (air, AND fire, AND ham 146.52, AND FRS, AND CB ch. 19 for example), and c) a pretty fast scan rate, and d) a very sensitive receiver. Its small, low power requirements, and can run on 12V or uses the 115 adapter. It also includes a couple of antennas, for flexibility where it is sitting on the bench at home, or in the car. You can scan everything and then cut out band-by-band that you dont want to monitor right now. One tradeoff is that there is no direct frequency entry mode, but that means there are 10 less buttons on the front panel, and for a small radio like this, that is really a plus, not a minus. Ultimately, would I buy another one if this one was broken or stolen or I gave it away? Absolutely. Its exactly what I wanted when I bought it, and Im 100% happy with everything about it (including Amazons price, as usual). If youre thinking of getting this as a gift for someone, check first to see if their local services use digital radios. This varies all over the country.

> 3 dayI convinced myself to upgrade to this Uniden scanner to replace my old & outdated Uniden BC350C 50 channel scanner. I bought this scanner because I needed more programmable channel space for my important frequencies other than just 50 channels which was all that my old scanner had or would let me program. When I received this scanner, I was quite happy getting ready to set it up & receive 250 more programmable channels & space for frequencies than my old, outdated Uniden scanner had. Once I got it set up & started programming my frequencies, I ran into a bad downgrade issue that I was not aware of when I purchased it. The downgrade of this scanner: It will let you program up to 300 frequencies into it as described but the real catch to this is that you can only program up to 100 channels/frequencies into the best & most useful bank on this scanner being the(Private) Bank but not 300 like I was expecting to be able to program into the (Private) bank. The other 200 programmable channels are only available in the following shared banks: PD/FD/EMG & AIR/MRN. What this means is that if you need to program more than 100 channels/frequencies onto this scanner, youll have to program the other +100 of your scanner frequencies into these other shared banks/categories which then means that you cannot just listen to your own private/important frequencies that you have programmed in these shared banks on this scanner... You will in fact have to hear & listen to everything else that is going on under these Bank categories too which to me is nothing but a terrible annoyance. If you are like me, you may only want to hear & listen to your chosen programmed frequencies & not everything else too like, when the scanner gets stuck on a blank frequency with pure Black noise in the PD/FD/EMG or AIR/MRN Banks every 10 seconds & wont stop until you come & lock it out on the scanner. This means that you may not even hear anything that is going on with your important programmed frequencies in these other two Banks because there will be too much other noise & things going on under these shared banks/categories for you to hear anything that is going on with your programmed frequencies that you needed or wanted to program & listen to for your purposes. I expected for this scanner to let me program all of my important frequencies into the one bank that is most important & the most useful on this scanner. Again that is the (Private) bank which I thought it would let me program 300 channels/frequencies into that specific bank. That was not the case but instead only holds 100 channels/frequencies in this useful (Private) bank. Bummer this was to me to find this out!! (:-(

> 3 dayI received this as a gift from my wife. I find the scanner a little hard to program and the sound quality is not a good as I would like. Of course it isnt a $500 scanner so I really didnt expect it to be a Cadillac but more of a Chevy. It offers a wide variety of frequencies to monitor so someone looking for a scanner that will do the job and not break the bank this is a good one!

> 3 dayIm a beginner when it comes to police scanners and am glad this was very easy to set up. You just literally plug in the power and plug in the antenna and you are good to go. Thanks to earlier reviews I bought an aftermarket antenna and used it at the get go so i havent run into the issues with reception that other reviewers have mentioned. Also thanks to another earlier review I was able to (fairly) easily program my local police departments channel into the private bank. Although it did take a little extra time because for one I couldnt input the channel directly and for two the search arrows have to be pushed over and over again for each channel change instead of being able to simply hold the button down and have it scroll through quickly to the channel I wanted. This lead to me having to hit the scroll up botton I kid you not 150 times before I got to the station I wanted and was able to save it into the private bank. But now that its in there it is super convenient. The built in speaker is adequate and quite loud when turned up all the way. It is a tad fuzzy but its hard to tell if that is due to the quality of the speaker or the quality of my local polices radio equipment (I live in a small town that is kind of behind the times when it comes to technology). That being said, even though its a little fuzzy, I am still able to understand almost all of what is being said.
