Having recently bought a bunch of digital games off the Wii U eShop, I needed more storage but not a whole lot, so this 250 gb was just the right fit. I saw others mention that this does not work with Wii U, and theyre partially right: The included single cable does not have enough power to work on the Wii U alone. Instead, youll have to buy a separate Y cable, specifically one with 2 USB A male to micro B (one USB A is for data, the other for power, and both connect to the 2 USB ports on the back of the Wii U). I got one here on Amazon from Micro Connectors for about $8, and I was able to move/copy/play my digital Wii U games off this external drive. Love the very slim profile of this external HDD and seems to work well with with my Wii U with a different cable! If youre shopping around for cheaper alternatives for a external hard drives that are in the hundreds of gigabytes range, consider this one if its cheaper!

Like others have mentioned, the capacity is not 500 GB it is only 465 GB. Luckily for me I’m only using it to back up photos and not something with larger file sizes. I am iffy about this hard drive deciding to stop working one day and lose all my photos ( fingers crossed that it doesn’t) because 3 weeks after I first used it I got this message on my laptop saying that an error was found and that it needed to be scanned and repaired. Luckily everything was still ok with the hard drive. If I don’t have anymore issues after a year, I can up my rating by one star.

I needed something that hold off till I could afford a more expensive hard drive. I own a MacBook Pro & my main use for the hard drive is to play sims with mods. It works. But it is annoying. I am constantly worried about the plug in coming out. I’ve been deep into my game & it’s unplugged so I lost my save. It’s ok as a temporary, but I do not see myself having it for more than maybe a few months.

I just put a few thousand videos on this trying to free up iCloud space. It worked very easy on my pc and the download speed was pretty fast.

I bought this for more storage on my Xbox series S. I plugged it in, formatted it for Xbox, and was able to use it right away. After having problems with previous external drives from other brands it was relieving to see this work. 3 weeks into owning the product I’ve had no issues so far. Note: you can only play Xbox one and a few Xbox series s/x games from the drive. For most Xbox series s/x games, you’ll need to store it on the internal drive or get the seagate expansion card. With this drive you can still store all Xbox series s/x games, you’ll just probably have to copy it to the internal, but which’ll probably take from 5-20 minutes depending on the size of the game. To see if an Xbox series s/x game can be played straight from this external hard drive, click select on the game in the home menu, go to more game info, and if it says XboxGen9Aware then you’re good. Otherwise, you’ll need to move it to the internal/seagate card like I described earlier.
